It's still beautiful over here, warm and sunny and I'm feeling very chilled and mellow right now.

OMG!! You let them kidnap Gerard!! (AND HURT BOB! Who's going to comfort him if Gerard isn't there, have you thought of that?!! :-) Gerard doesn't understand anything and he's so frightened. You better make Bob and Frank and Mikey rescue him asap!!

Bob is going to be alone and hurt and so worried! And Gerard is going to be somewhere very cold, all tied up and blindfolded and confused and SCARED.

And then Frank and Mikey will rescue him, and there will be a great deal of clinging and awkward cuddling (between Gerard and Bob, awkward because Bob is hurt, which means that Gerard has to be careful about where he puts his hands and, you know, other body parts) and awkward hospital room moments (between Frank and Mikey, awkward because Frank is in a hospital bed being all "I am way too badass and dangerous for you, Mikeyway, you should forget about me" and Mikey is standing there going "yes, you're very badass in your back-less hospital gown. *eyeroll*" and Frank is all "I'm serious" and Mikey is all "yeah, well, I'm seriously not going to forget about you, so, what am I supposed to do about that"). And then there would be kissing!

You mention failing but I can't see that happening. You may be unsure about writing this type of story, but you have the ideas, you have the talent -- because I know you can write really well. There's nothing to lose in having a go.

Weeell, I don't think a fantasy setting would really work but you could totally set it in space. Right? Mikey and Gerard lives on a small, neglected space station. Frank is a secret government agent on the run from the agents of a big powerful smuggler/drug lord/corrupt official. The kidnappers take Gerard to another space/ship/planet. Mikey has never been off their space station in his life but he's determined to help rescue his brother. Or something like that. Or possibly not at all.

I could keep that in mind -- if the 'real world' doesn't work for me, I could maybe come up with a simple transplant into space.

(Although, you never know, Frank could be an ELF SPY. And Mikey is, like, a regular non-magical human which is why Frank doesn't want him involved [too risky for humans!]. Because the bad guys are EVIL WIZARDS who are after some kind of SUPER MAGICAL THINGY. And there could be DRAGONS. [If only because everything is better with dragons.] [Also, Bob would have to be a pixie. Because I think that would be hilarious.])

EDIT: Haha, okay, so now I totally want to write the story as an urban fantasy. *headdesk*
