The popslash remix challenge has gone live. I didn't take part this year but have done in other years and I know it's a challenge that tends to be overlooked a lot, which is a shame because it's a really cool challenge and the authors really don't get the credit they deserve. So go, read and feed.
stubbleglitter announced that it's the last popslash remix challenge, from next year it'll be integrated with the bigger remix challenge. Which is sad but very understandable. So I want to thank Maggie for all her hard work in taking over the challenge and running it all these years. I still love popslash with all my heart, and memories of remix are very precious to me, from the years I was too scared to take part, to the years that I did and ended with stories I enjoyed. Thank you. ♥
sly_fuck has made some very nice MCR icons, this one I'm using is from her ♥
I love the picture of Panic! that Shane posted, and have been very amused at Ryan trolling the internet.
I put in my first support ticket this morning. For the last few days LJ has been loading horribly slowly for me, I was dealing as best I could, thinking it was something on my end, but apparently it's an issue for many in the UK. So, hopefully they'll sort something out.
The lease on our car is running out soon, so we went out to pick a new one yesterday. We're getting a.... something. I don't know. It's got four wheels and an engine and a nifty storage compartment for the passanger seat, and a place to plug in an MP3 player. That was important. It's also a 7 seater, which you'd think we wouldn't need for a three person family but with Scout stuff and the amount of people we ferry around it's a good choice, especially as the deposit for the 5 and 7 seater is the same -- Corey's just informed me it's a Citroen Grand C4 Picasso. At least someone knows.
After uploading for someone I've just listened to Panic's version of Karma Police multiple times. If you want it, it's here

Date: 2009-08-03 03:05 pm (UTC)Right now he's on the couch, coughing up a lung and pretty damn sick. Gerard's in the middle of a big down swing so is being all emo about not noticing, so Bob swooped in and helped get Mikey into pajamas and made him drink while Ray and Brian are out buying medicine and Frank is at school so doesn't know, it's all TRAGIC!
Now I have to decide if he gets to stay home with medicine from the chemist and Gerard rubbing his back all night or else is bundled into the back of Ray's van to go to the free clinic. Decisions decisions.

Date: 2009-08-03 03:25 pm (UTC)It's terrible! I threw in some mentions of Mikey coughing and being out of breath leading up to this but of course as Gerard's feeling like he's at the bottom of a pit and everyone else is at the top, well he just didn't see until Mikey was sent home from work already really sick -- because Mikey's stupid and kept working due to them being broke.
I think staying at home is the way to go. Ray can spend far too much money on medicine, Frank will bring over food from his mom and refuse to leave Mikey's side. Brian will just sit and wonder what the hell he's got in to. Bob will be Bob *g*
And of course I need Mikey at home for the huge argument about the past I mentioned. The low before things start to get better.
And wow. I'll stop talking now.

Date: 2009-08-03 03:52 pm (UTC)Ack! Poor Mikey and Gerard! Both trying so hard to do their best, but being shown up by Mikey falling sick. It's such a real scenario in this country. Of course you continue to work while you are sick because you need the money. It happens all the time.
And, yes, the whole group rallies around and helps them through the crisis! That's adorable. Have I mentioned today that this is my favorite !verse?
Ooooh, fight. I hate writing fights. That's why my Brendon/Greg story is stalled. I just can't write the fight scene.
