I was sitting wondering why James hadn't phoned -- he always phones on his break -- and realised that it wasn't even 9am yet, so of course he hadn't. It feels much later than 8:20 for some reason, probably because it's already a beautiful sunny day, and the last few months I've become used to getting up in the dark.
I'm going to take advantage of the weather and get a wash on the line asap. I always try to line-dry when I can, even if it does leave the clothes a little stiff. But it's much cheaper than using the tumbler, plus, so many of Corey's clothes can't be tumble dried that I get sick of seeing them draped over the radiators. Talking of him, I'll need to go find his beloved black skinny jeans. The boy buys himself multiple hoodies and t-shirts but has this one pair of jeans that he wears for school and going out. Getting them washed and then dried is always an issue, especially as they can't be tumbled either.
I didn't mention yesterday but they've got the foot bridge to our estate blocked off for resurfacing, and gave no warning that they were going to do so. That means to get off the estate you either have to jump the fence and go down a steep, grassy bank and cross a busy road, walk down the duel carriageway on one side of the estate, or down the slip road with no pavement on the other. The council put a pedestrian diversion sign up at the bottom of the bridge and what's usually a few minutes walk for even a slow walker has become much longer as you take in a winding route that involves an unlit path that goes through a field. It's also a path with steps so the old people who use electric scooters are pretty much screwed. It's been a few days now and I really hope they're done soon.
The TV, and no doubt newspapers, have been full of coverage of Fabrice Muamba collapsing on the pitch yesterday. It's such a horrific situation and I'm glad the TV cameras were respectful and pulled away. There's no need to see someone fight for their life. The shock of the players and spectators was so apparent, and it was good to see no negative reactions when the match was called off. Football fans so often get a bad rep, which is sad when the vast majority don't deserve it.
James bought me a plant for Mother's Day, and Pansy keeps trying to eat it. He also bought me toblerone minis, which I keep eyeing. Nothing from the kidlet yet, though I doubt he'll be surfacing any time soon.
Right, I'm off to gather washing and then I'm going to spend the morning reading. This afternoon I need to go see mam, do the ironing, make Sunday dinner. So for the next few hours I'm going to make like a sloth, except not as cute.

Date: 2012-03-18 09:41 am (UTC)I hope Muamba makes it. That sounds pretty horrible. :(
Happy Mother's Day! (I always forget that it's so much earlier in the UK.)

Date: 2012-03-18 09:59 am (UTC)It was horrible. Reports say he's still not out of danger yet. I feel so bad for his friends and family.
Thank you! ♥

Happy Mother's day!

Date: 2012-03-18 01:11 pm (UTC)Our electric bill was horrendous last year so I always try to line dry when I can. I have to admit, I get satisfaction seeing clothes blowing on the line, because I'm just that sad.
Thank you! I was supposed to be going to give mam her gifts but she went in the shower. So I'm sitting all dressed with nowhere to go *g*

Ahaha, satisfaction can be found anywhere! I'm too laze to line dry anymore, I am sad to say.
Hee! I like to imagine you in your Mother's Day finery.

Date: 2012-03-18 06:31 pm (UTC)I like to line dry bed linen and towels in the sun because they smell so nice from it. I totally tumble dry all my clothes though. Since the washing machines and dryer are in the communal area I don't have to pay for the electricity. Corey is starting to sound like such a typical teenager, it's hilarious :-)
That's really evil of Pansy, it's your plant! I hope you got a nice present from Corey. Happy Mother's Day!

Date: 2012-03-24 06:36 pm (UTC)Honestly, if I didn't have to pay for the electric I'd probably tumble all our clothes, but our electric bill was horrifying last year. So, line drying as much as possible it is.
I got Lush stuff from Corey, and my poor plant is now half the size it was. Apparently it's very tasty.

Date: 2012-03-24 06:10 pm (UTC)Like when people talk about living in places I only know from the tv or eating food I've never heard of or share pictures that to me seem strange and intriguing.
It's just one of the reasons I love fandom so much ♥

Date: 2012-03-24 06:11 pm (UTC)I enjoyed my chilled out Sunday. Sadly I have all the things to do tomorrow. Though that's made better by being able to sleep in :D
