Still alive, just spent the last week frantically getting to the stage where I could submit a rough BBB draft. Which I did \o/

It's rough and has place-holders in the middle, but is well over the minimum word count and I know I can go in and make it much shinier. In a few days, when the memory of sitting churning out words for the last week is starting to fade.

The BBB summaries went up to be claimed today and I want to read many of them right now. Fandom, you are awesome and I love you.

I should keep on with my online catch up but James is at work and I have two episodes of Game of Thrones to watch. Decisions decisions.

One last thing. Yesterday was the birthday of kopperblaze I did tell her happy birthday already on the actual day but want to say it here too, because she's all kinds of awesome and should have love always. Happy birthday plus a day, bb. I hope you realise how special you are ♥

I suspected that was what you were up to and you weren't alone, I don't think I've ever seen my reading list so quiet :-) But you did it! Go you!! You totally rock!!

Yeah, I got no writing done when Kimberly was here -- which was totally my fault and not hers -- so was really against it from Tuesday onwards.

I haven't written so much and so fast in a long time. I don't recommend it.

I got totes caught up on research and that slowed me down some (~mysterious~). Somehow, I kept writing til my first draft had a little over the minimum word count. Like yours, it's pretty rough.

The thing is I look at first drafts as a blueprint. The beta process is all about going the design and checking out what works and what doesn't. Other than waking up one day and magically hating a story I've invested so much of myself in, I'm not going to throw the first draft away and start from scratch.

The BBB summaries were a mix of the interesting, the LOLarious and (in some cases) the totally bizarre. There are a number of fics I know I'm going to be chomping at the bit to read (including *yours*).

My plan for tonight is to download some Inception fic and maybe watch The Losers and/or The Expendables.

LOL it's like my flist suddenly all crawled back out of the woodwork. It's been SO quiet this week! YAY for all the BBBs! I haven't looked yet, but there's always so much good stuff there \o/

Yay, rough draft! I failed rather miserably there, but that's what I love about the BBB -- I can just keep pounding away at it and get it in for the next wave! But really, congratulations on getting yours in on time (that's a guarantee that there will be a story I want to read in this wave, even before I get a chance to read through the summaries. :D)

Yeah, I love that about BBB too. And looking at the number of stories I wonder if a lot of people are waiting to submit for wave two. So many stories over the whole year. I love it \o/

Research can easily slow things down. I have to admit I have a lot of ***add actual terms here***** for things I still need to research.

I really like how you look at a first draft. I see so many people despairing over a first draft that reads badly, and they really shouldn't. It's very much a foundation on which the eventual story is built.

Yeah, that sounds like a typical BBB summary mix *g*
