Mar. 29th, 2014 02:11 pmCatching up a little.
James' hand continues to get better. We had a scare last weekend when he bled through his cast a little, but the hospital were reassuring and said as he had an appointment on Monday, to just get it seen then, unless it bled more, which, thankfully it didn't.
That same day James got a letter from his surgeon saying they'd actually done different work than he'd expected, something that was explained more on the Monday. It turns out when they'd opened up his wrist and hand that the metal joint they'd inserted a few years back was scraping against bone and causing metal dust as a result. As his surgeon said, imagine nails down a blackboard, that was what the joint sounded like when he moved it. So, he decided to take it out. Not without some reservations as it wasn't what James had agreed and signed permission for, but the surgeon said he'd made a judgement call and decided to do it anyway. Then, once that was out the tendons to James' fingers fell back into place naturally. Which was great for that, but apparently getting the joint out was a hassle, because they're made to stay in place and last, so no wonder James was and is still hurting so much.
Right now he can move two fingers, while the other two are still tight, but he has exercises to do so hopefully that will change with time. He's got a two month sick note, mainly because his hand and wrist is so fragile right now with raw bone edges and newly moved muscles wrapped around to try and protect the joint. He's wearing a splint and needs to be really careful about any knock.
He's also just got a new leg. We picked that up yesterday and while he's very happy with the metallic skin look, it's not a perfect fit yet, so we may have to go back to the limb center soon. Though as we've hospital appointments to go to on Monday and Tuesday already it'll have to be from mid-week onwards.
Some photos, non-gory I promise. James after getting his splint on Monday. That was a long day. Due to the bleed his cast had stuck to his wound which is still very raw and open, so we sat in a small room while the nurse kept soaking the cast so James could ease it off little by little. But his hand and wrist looks so amazingly straight, it's hard to believe that before his first op his wrist was almost at 90 degrees. Then his new leg. I posted that last one on instragram, I've been enjoying using that lately, now that I'm learning how to actually communicate with people. I love looking at all the photos people put up, so many different things happening all over the world.
Earlier in the week I bought Kerrang and then scanned Mikey's interview, which I posted here. It's so strange to see my name and mikeyway_daily mentioned when I search for Mikey or Electric Century stuff on tumblr, strange but also nice.
But yeah, it's a good interview, good bro stuff and I like that Mikey owns his past and mentions last year without raking things up. Plus of course, it was great to see him mention the others. But best of all is the lumberjack photo, I mean, dress him in plaid and shove him on a tree. Why not? It's the most ridiculous and amazing photo and even now I laugh each time I look at it. Oh there's an idea for wave three. A lumberjack AU. Sure I know nothing about it but I'm sure I could spin something about looking hot while chopping down trees.
It's mother's day tomorrow and yesterday Kayleigh and mam's relationship hit a new low. That's all I'm saying about that as already today I've had three lengthy phone calls about the issue. But in better mother's day news, earlier Corey went to Sunderland, I strongly suspect a Lush bag will be coming back with him later.
Right, time to try and catch up yet again. One day I'll actually do so.

Date: 2014-03-29 08:37 pm (UTC)Wow, MWD is getting tracktion on Tumblr???? Will weirdness never end. :-)
I liked that interview too. Very honest-sounding, and mature, Which is nice for a change from sensationalist Tumblr and Twitter brouhahas.

Date: 2014-03-29 10:01 pm (UTC)James' new leg is very shiny.
The lumberjack photo was so weird. I'm afraid I'll never stop associating lumberjacks with Monty Python though so a lumberjack AU just sound hilarious to me :-)
Happy Mother's Day in advance! I hope you'll have a nice day (with plenty of Lush products :-)

Date: 2014-03-30 12:28 am (UTC)I am at least in part to blame for the tumblr thing. I wasn't the first to post it, but I do run the EC blog on tumblr so one of the mentions was mine. I was happy to see, even before I shared it, that people weren't outright stealing your scans though. It's always nice to see people giving credit where credit is due. That's something that rarely happens over there.
Happy Mother's Day <3

Ah, that's fantastic that you run the blog.
It really was nice to see credit being given, not that I would have been upset if it hadn't, but it was a lovely thing to see. So, thank you for your part in that.
