Jul. 22nd, 2014 07:49 pmI've had good mail recently. Thank you so much
frausorge for the postcard, and to
spasticat for the gorgeous origami star that arrived today. Which you can see here. Isn't that beautiful?
While I'm sharing instagram photos, have two from the garden yesterday. The corn which has started to grow straggly bits and the beans which are growing at an insane rate, including into next door's chicken coop. Also, a photo from a few days ago when we had dinner at the beach. By which I mean we had chips sitting on the sea wall, but it was a beautiful day and just a lovely place to eat.
All photos are from my instagram which you're welcome to follow me on if you want to. Not that I post anything that exciting or photographed well tbh, usually the beach, my garden or a cat or two. But I do enjoy it on there, which includes looking at other people's photos too. It indulges my nosy side. Though on occasions I see too much, yes Kayleigh, I mean you, I now know more about my sister's kinks than I ever wanted or expected to.
It's been another gorgeous day today so I was hanging out in the garden earlier. I like sitting on the bench and looking at the plants while eating the peapods which are strategic growing within arms reach.
Tomorrow I'm off to the hospital with James. It's his last meeting with his surgeon and hopefully he'll be allowed to change his solid plastic splint for a fabric one which will be more comfortable. Though the plastic one has given him an amazing set of tan lines over his arm. Hopefully tomorrow will be his last hospital meeting, surgery wise at least. I can't remember if I said or not but he's decided he's having no more operations unless it's for something life threatening. He's just had enough, and I can't blame him. The last meeting we had at the hospital his surgeon said he had no idea why he'd suggested and put in the wrist joint from James' last big surgery because it was never going to do any good. Which, I guess is good he can admit mistakes, but at the same time, strengthens the idea that the doctor's don't really understand AMC enough right now. I'm sure that will change in the future, because even now their understanding is much better than it was when James was first born, but right now, stopping is the right decision.
BBBs start posting soon, I think so anyway. Sadly I realised there was no way that I could get something done for wave 3. Hell, at this point all I've written this year is one 1000 word story, which is just sad. I really need to change that, which yeah, I keep saying, but I do mean it. What helps is recently I've been getting some lovely comments on my stuff at A03. I've never kept it a secret about how much I love comments, so this little cluster of them has delighted me. Especially so as I got one on my The Fosters story, my little slave AU story that could. 10 Rules for Looking After Mikey Way has also had a recent run of kudos, which always surprises me as that story is so old, and was written so quickly.
Which brings me nicely to, I've been enjoying the photos Mikey and Kristin have been posting of themselves recently. I especially love this one. It's so pretty and sunshine filled, perfect to see in this weather.

Date: 2014-07-22 09:03 pm (UTC)Wow, your beans are awesome. I love how bright and cheerful the flowers are. I envy you living so close to the beach. It's so hot here going to the beach would be fantastic.
I also envy you your garden. My balcony is very green and cheerful but it can't beat a real garden.
I hope tomorrow's visit to the hospital will go well.
You do have a story in Wave One though, don't you? I thought I recognised your particular style in one of the summaries. Also, hooray for comments on old stories!

I hope everything went well today for James!
I wonder how busy BBB will be. Who knows, maybe I'll end up reading some of the stories, it'll be interesting to see!
Kristin and Mikey are being really cute. I like that they seem to have a very calm relationship.

Date: 2014-07-26 01:45 pm (UTC)I'm so glad you encouraged getting corn last year. Watching them grow has been fantastic. We'll be getting more for sure next year.
Oh yeah. Having his hand straightened did wonders for his grip on that hand. Just, we both suspect right now it's as good as it's going to get improvement wise.

Yeah. Kayleigh's not shy about what she posts, many posts about what she likes, and many selfies.
BBB seems to be busy so far, and I was thrilled to see 3 Mikey stories when I looked yesterday. Not that I've read any yet, but I intend to.
Yeah, I like that about them too. They're still lovey dovey, but not to the extent he was before. Though, I suppose there's still time for made up words to appear.

Date: 2014-07-26 02:44 pm (UTC)It did go well, thank you.
I'm thrilled you've got something for wave one, I'll be looking out for it. But sigh for wave three. I just couldn't get it done. Hell, I haven't got much of anything done lately.

Date: 2014-07-26 02:51 pm (UTC)The beans are insane. They're growing so fast, and no one will take any from us. I can see us having a freezer stuffed full of the things by the end of the year. That or we'll be leaving bags of them on people's doors.
I love living so close to the beach. It's our go-to always, and as you know end up there often, especially as some of the big grocery stores we go to are actually beach side.
I bet you'd make a garden shine. Dad keeps making plans to improve ours. We have a brick shed right in the middle of our small space and it's only used to hold junk. He thinks we can knock most of the walls down and build a greenhouse on top for not that much money. It would make sense, and would mean we could get rid of the other greenhouse and have more raised beds.
Nope, no story from me in wave one. I've sucked at writing this year.

Date: 2014-07-26 04:23 pm (UTC)<3(I have forgotten the html for <3....I'm sad :( )
It's a sequel to last year's spy story so more of the rare pairing no one else writes.
I HAD wanted to write a prequel to last year's wave 3 brendon/frank afterlife au..but I just couldn't with how bbb pushed wave one back. Instead of pushing myself to finish earlier my brain KNEW I had the extra time so it used it for that and NOT wave 3. So the time before final drafts were due(that last week) was editing with Bootson. So the draft was in sunday. But since that week I'd not been off in seven days when Monday rolled around I was exhausted and sickish.(no writing happened) And we're gearing up for inventory this week...so no time to write 8k+ from Tuesday-Friday...*shrugs*
And that was rambling you didn't need to hear. *hugs*. Hope your Saturday is going shiny

Date: 2014-07-26 04:24 pm (UTC)That sounds like a great idea of your dad's. Bricks make an excellent foundation for a greenhouse and maybe you can find old windows cheaply somewhere for the upper part.
No, I noticed yesterday when the story I suspected was yours were posted. It was the last sentence in the summary for the Gerard/Mikey Killjoys fic that sounded very much like something you would put in a summary. (I just started it and so far it's very good. The way their soulbonding is written is very neat.)
