Aug. 14th, 2014 09:35 amCorey came back safe from his festival. He got sunburned waiting nearly two hours for the showers on the Saturday, so didn't bother again after that. Had his tent flood on the Sunday so had to sleep under his clothes as his sleeping bag was soaked. Spent a load of money on the food vans as the food he and his friends took down got chucked away as it went off in the high temperatures on Fri. Told me great stories including men wandering around in princess dresses and a wedding dress and nights spent bin jousting. About tents being blown away in the high winds and abandoning the tent he'd been sleeping in along with a pair of shoes, a towel and what looks like most of his toiletries. But, he had an amazing time and is already making plans for next year and what they're all going to do better.
While Corey was away I went to the cinema with James. He'd reapplied for his CES card which means he gets a free companion ticket when he goes to the cinema. We also wanted to check out the gallery at Metrocentre Odeon, where you get to sit in comfy sofa type double seats as well as having unlimited pop, popcorn and nachos to eat/drink as well as getting to hang out in a comfy gallery people only area before the film starts. It turns out the card was valid there, so we saw the Inbetweeners 2, luxuriated in the comfy seats, and had more than had our money's worth in snacks and drink.
We're going back again the weekend coming, but this time with
sperrywink to see Guardians of the Galaxy at the imax screen.
My niece continues to edge toward fandom. She's ditched her ducklip selfie instagran icon for a fanart icon and yesterday posted a Marilyn Monroe based love your body post. Someday soon she's going to mention her first fic, I just know it.
I had the ultimate bandom dream a few nights ago. I suspect it was Glee prompted as that was playing on the bedroom TV but really, something that ended up with Mikey urging Ryan to stop hiding in a phone box, holding hands with him and then running along a pier while surrounded by many other bandom people singing Dancing Queen. It was amazing. Also, completely out of character and ridiculous in a surreal way, and yet each time I think about it I end up grinning.
Talking of Mikey's hair amuses me so much right now. It's nice to see the hair experiments are still a thing.
I have things to do today, including getting thecat's spare bedroom sorted out before Sperrywink arrives tomorrow. But James is finally back on full shifts meaning we're back to the too early starts. I haven't missed those in the slightest and am dragging a bit at the moment. More coffee I think.
ETA: A butterfly hanging out on the sweet williams. It was there for ages, but of course flew away when I tried to get a good photo. I wish I'd managed to get both wings in the shot.

Date: 2014-08-14 03:35 pm (UTC)It looks like a lot of fun, and most people seem to have enjoyed it. Plus of course, everything is better when you're there with good friends.
The dream was incredible. It was one of those ones that stick with you after, as shown by me talking about it now. It was just so sunny and cheerful and singing Dancing Queen was the icing on the cake.

It's awesome that your niece is getting all fannish. How old is she now?
What a charming dream. And totally hilarious too :-)
But you managed to get a photo of it! That's more than I usually get with butterflies. They never seem to be still long enough to photograph. Particularly not the really pretty ones like that Peacock.
Have lots of fun with Kimberly! And give her a hug from me!

Date: 2014-08-15 10:56 am (UTC)I was so glad James' card did work there. There was no way I'd pay the price if we had to get two tickets, but with a buy one get one free deal it works out okay for a movie with snacks. Plus, I have to admit, I love the couches.
The dream was insane. I can still picture it so clearly, and it still makes me smile.
It was such a beautiful butterfly, and remained still for the longest time, until I tried to snap a photo. It's nice to have a name for it now, it's different to the ones I usually see.
I'm sure I will, and will give a hug for sure.
