The beast from the east can do one. We had snow nearly constantly for four days, it's freezing, enough so for the first time ever we left our heating on overnight last night. The roads are messed up. James' work has been sending out 4x4s to ensure their staff get in safely, but even so I worry about him travelling. Every day there have been reports of lorry's jackknifing and people getting stuck. He's back in our car today, and I just hope he can get back on the estate tonight. Buses have just started running on limited routes again, when I walked to Lidl earlier as we'd ran out of milk, I fell in a snow drift. Though like to think I styled it out, and got straight back up.

In happier news. no_tags is running again, which is a very shiny and awesome thing. I'm still debating joining, but if you're tempted I very much think you should do so. It's such a great challenge and I've enjoyed it every time I've taken part.

Sadly I realised I've missed the deadline for picfor1000, the first time I've done so in the 12 years I've joined the challenge. Time just got away from me :(

Other wise, I was sick, but am mostly better now. Thankfully, even my eyes hurt and it's no fun to be sick and unable to wallow with fic or tv. Apart from a walk up mam's yesterday, a walk to Lidl and a trip to Costco on Monday I haven't been away from the house in nearly a week. That's not going to change today, either. Maybe I'll go out for a walk tomorrow, hopefully one that doesn't include snowdrift diving this time.

Which brings me nicely to the birthday gift that turlough sent me. Aren't they the best mittens ever!?. And they're incredibly warm, too. Which is just what I've needed in this snow.

We still have you beat - it's been snowing every day since Monday here :-) But it must be so much worse for you without an infrastucture to take care of all the snow.

So sad to hear you missed the deadline. Though missing only one deadline in twelve years must be some kind of record so you still rule!

While it's snowing again today it doesn't seem to be sticking, so hopefully a thaw will happen soon. At least the main roads are clear now.

You know, I'd like to go to a place that actually knows how to deal with a lot of snow. It must make all the difference. Right now we haven't had any post for nearly a week and the bins weren't collected, and won't be until things thaw as the binmen are out trying to clear roads etc.

It's snowing again now, but I don't think it'll stick as the last lot of snow had started to melt a little, so everything is wet and crunchy.

Thank you. I'm sad about missing the deadline, simply because it has been so long. I may still write something just because, even though I know it won't officially count.

Your mittens have been admired lots by people seeing me wearing them.

It definitely makes a difference, but even we have had far too much snow this time. Lots of snow in combination with strong winds have made it almost impossible to keep some of the smaller roads open. They had to cancel the school buses on Thursday and Friday because of this and I don't know how many years it's been since that happened last.

Here's to the worst of it being over, but you guys got a *ton* of snow in your corner, and it's been disruptive enough down here!
