someone's just took the tree from our garden. The Christmas tree that we picked out special and strung with lights. It was a 7 foot tree and they climbed over our 6 foot fence and just took it. I hate people. I know it's only a tree but to just take it. what kind of person would do that?

God I'm crying over a stupid tree here. Sorry.

Dammit, what the hell is wrong with some people? Do you think it's the same people who stole the tank? I just don't understand why some guys (well, I'm talking about guys, but who knows...) would actually fucking steal something! They do have some nerves too! Assholes!

I'm so sorry for you, sis, you were so happy about your tree! I'm pissed off on your behalf.

Thanks for this sis. I appreciate you getting pissed on my behalf.

I suspect it's probably the same people. We've lived here nearly 7 years and in all that time we've had Corey's outside toys in the garden and they've never been stolen, so two things in as many days is too much of a coincidence I think.

Some people have no shame, and despite being sad at what's happened I'll always know I'm the better person and would never stoop to stealing.

BTW, did you see the pics I put up? I changed the entry to private but wasn't sure if they'd been seen.

As for the pics you put up, I was going to ask you. I actually saw the entry, then when I wanted to check the pics, I was told that I couldn't see it, and when I went back to my f-list, the entry had disappeared altogether *blink*

You've seen the pics now *g* I posted then the tree was taken and I was feeling insecure about posting anyway so that's all it took to make the entry private.

But they're up now, though you already know that :)

You DON'T have to be sorry.

It's a tree that you painstakingly decorated, and you have EVERY RIGHT to be angry. The nerve of some people! Could they be the ones who took the aquarium?

I felt I had to say sorry because really it's a minor thing but you're also right, there was a lot of effort and heart in that tree.

I think it would be the same people, like I said to Castalie we've lived here 7 years and in that time have never had a thing stolen, then this happens twice in as many days. Too much of a coincidence I think.

*hugs you back* thank you.

I can never tell you how much it helps for people to be there when I need them. A hug, even if it's virtual is such a gift.

The tree means nothing to them, just something they stole from a garden. But we have our memories of choosing it, and they can't take them.

Your post made me smile when I got it, so thank you. That's the best sentence I've seen about rotten people and I agree with every word.

I think the Grinch/Scrooge thing is right. Trees aren't that expensive, stealing one that's decorated and attached to the house with the lights is just beyond belief.

Thanks for the hugs, they helped a lot, and now I'm going to think about your TS meme some.

OK, that's it; I'm pissed beyond measure.

Terri, don't you or James or Corey freak out when you accidentally catch sight of a ninja lurking under the eaves above your garden.

That'll be me, waiting to exact vengeance on your behalf, and I know a -=LOT=- of ways to kill people. And injure them. Severely. And I specialize in mental torture, though I'm doubting these Neanderthals have enough intelligence to make that worthwhile.

Seriously, I'm so pissed off I can't stand it. I'm, like, actively concentrating on invoking karma and hoping these ABSOLUTE BASTARDS get what they deserve. Preferably three- or ten- fold.

Oh, and here's a creative thought...

..except it relies on your intruders actually having brains, but...

Put a sign in your garden, advising all who read it that you're a big fan of the end scene of "Sleeping With the Enemy". You know, where Julia Roberts covers the intruder with her gun while she dials the police, and says "Hello? I need the police; I've just shot an intruder."

Then hangs up and proceeds to do so.

*hugs*

Sorry, Terri-Luv, I'm being all irrational on your behalf, but this kinda thing just galls me to the limit. You should immediately replace the tree with a nicer one as a "Fuck Off!" to these people, and also wire it with a paint bomb. That permanent paint they use in school fire alarms.

((((((Terri))))))

Don't let 'em get you down; don't change your lifestyle just 'cuz they're affecting it. That would be them winning.

I also understand where you're coming from about getting a new bigger tree, and maybe I still will but just now I don't think I can take something else being stolen. The thought that someone climbed over the fence, which is 6 foot plus is freaking me out to be honest.

I want to be all defiant and say, fuck you. I just don't know if I can yet.

You're totally right, it wasn't really the tree that was the problem, it was the fact someone had come into my space and took something that meant so much. When you commented James was out trying to find the thieves but he sure got a hug when he got back, Corey too.

it's a horrid feeling, having your space violated - and even if it's just a tree, it's a tree that you put time/effort/money into getting and decorating. hope those jerks get what's coming to them v. v. soon!

is there anyway you can light something else in your garden? maybe string lights in a bare tree already planted there, or along the house or something; something that would be festive, but much harder for morons to steal.

Thank you. I'm glad that people are making me realise that getting so upset about the tree wasn't as stupid as I thought it was when I calmed down, but you're right. It was more than just a tree, it was something my family did together.

I did have lights strung along the shed roof, but we've taken them down. Until the garden's more secure I'm not going to give anyone the chance to steal anything more. But we still have the ones on the roof, those are going nowhere.

Terri, I'm so sorry honey, that really sucks. We have a problem around here with people stealing garden gnomes and Canadian flags (real fuckin' patriotic to *steal* a flag.) Short of putting barbed-wire up, you can put some oil/lubricant on the fence to deter them. Because once they start to climb, it will be slippery and someone will be more likely to notice something going on.

My dad did that with the chain-link fence we have out back... put some really thick lubricant on it so that when the teenagers started to climb it, they slipped. Of course it was dark out and we heard one of them exclaim, "Eww... it's covered in dog shit." LOL!

From: [identity profile] turps33.livejournal.com
Stealing flags, that's just wrong! I swear some people just don't have any shame. But the oil is a fantastic idea, I think we'll do that in the morning. The fence is big enough you'll only get messed up if you're trying to climb it.

Thanks for the idea, and the sympathy.

Date: 2003-12-09 04:02 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] canadiandreamr.livejournal.com
It's also a great way to catch people... as in, "where did that oil on your jacket/shirt/pants come from?"

From: [identity profile] kifty.livejournal.com
There's absolutely nothing wrong with being upset about this. It is horrible vandalism, and it is within your garden, so it makes you feel unsafe.

I like the idea of oil on the wall... but my sister had an alternate suggestion. You could string a wire (attached to an air-horn or alarm? or with large bells on it?) inside your garden, quite near the wall, so people trying to get over will encounter it. It wouldn't work if you have animals though.

I hope that your vandal gets what's coming to him!

(now would be the perfect time for an angry icon!)
