May. 16th, 2020 01:29 pmThe man is outside right now fixing our fence, which is a very happy-making thing. Actually, this is the second fence man as the first let us down. He wasn't responding to messages if he was coming and when he eventually did it was a simple 'yes' So, the day he was due we were up first thing as he hadn't said what time he'd arrive, only to sit around until well after midday when James messaged again and finally got a response that the man was in hospital. Which, okay, could be true but it very much seemed like a blow-off.
However, a quick ask for recommendations on FB later we'd been recced someone who not only came to check out the job within a few hours -- unlike the first man who was going by photos only but is charging us half the price. Yeah, we're not getting a new gate but he said the one we have is solid, just needs straightening and will be fine once the new posts and fence boards have been fitted.
Talking of recs. I've been fully submerged in a The Musketeers AU for days now. It's a dragon rider AU and is following the eps and doing a really good job doing so. It's gen, has some amazing dragons I've become very invested in, is a h/c lovers dream, especially Aramis h/c and I'm enjoying every single word. I'm only up to story 9 of 19 posted so far, and can't wait to dive in again each night. Musketeer Dragon Riders.
I got a very lovely comment on Painted Ponies this morning, which normally I wouldn't mention but they also said they were going to take the storyline and use it as a role play. I've never had anything like that before, and it's rather flattering to think about. RoboBoy and the bodyguard who loves him still out there and doing their thing.
We've been to the beach at last and it was so lovely to be able to walk in the sunshine and breathe in the salty air. Weird in that nearly everything was closed. Just one fish shop open which was operating very efficiently with excellent social distancing going on, but the toilets and carparks were all shut. Thankfully on-road parking was open, so we could get parked and have a good walk.
Then last night the last episode of Modern Family was shown, so we watched that. It's a show that I've watched from the start and while it was never a top favourite and had some not so great episodes, I did enjoy all the characters and they'll be a miss after being around for so long.

Wow, I...had 0 idea that Modern Family was ending. Like so many other sitcoms (that I don't watch), it certainly feels like it's been on the air for abt 300 years. Probably because of reruns too?

Date: 2020-05-22 06:26 pm (UTC)The safety protocols at the beach were strict, with the two-meter distance between each person in the queue and the food paid for via contactless payment and then the actual fish and chips handed out onto a table from the next window, so no one had to touch. It was actually impressive to see and reassuring they were taking things so seriously.
I watched a special about the show and Modern Family was on for 11 seasons, so yeah, a long time. It was a show that was very much dated by watching the kids grow up, they were all so small when it started, and by the end were at college or had kids of their own.
