turpsAfter being deprived of food since last night Milo didn't even get his tooth extraction today.
We got him to the vets, did the handover, left after being told to call at 3 to see how things had gone, only to get a phone call five minutes later from the vets. Turns out an emergency case came in, a cat that needed an urgent operation. Which normally would have been fine and would have just meant Milo would have to wait, except, Lucie, the vet who was operating on him, has just lost her grandma and had to leave at a certain time to attend a live stream funeral from Florida, her home town. They'd contacted the main vet but she couldn't come in, so Milo was bumped to Tuesday.
Then, just after I'd dropped him off at home and was on the way out the vets called again to say they'd written up some pain meds to give him for the next few days, so hopefully, he'll be able to eat more. So, we have to go get that later as everything had been so frantic there today that the meds hadn't been drawn up by the time we were passing on the way home.
It is a little frustrating that it should have been over and done with now, but ultimately it's just one of those things with a string of circumstances that meant the only option was for Milo to wait.
I sawshadowhive do the June Something and thought I'd play along. They're basically a bunch of fannish questions to answer and a nice run-up to the Sunshine Challenge which will be starting in July.
Two questions today as I'm already four behind.
What's a new fandom that you've fallen into since the last June Something/in the last year?
For something completely new I'd say both The Umbrella Academy and Picard. While TUA came out before June last year I didn't do this last year so will include it anyway because I'm a cheater like that. I enjoyed reading fic for them both, and had written for TUA, posting something in those heady new show days where all the fic feels new and special and kudos, views etc skyrocket.
But I guess in terms of actually taking part, it would be winterhawk for MCU. Yeah, I was already reading and had posted fic for them this time last year, but in the last few months, I've finally taken it up a notch and have started to interact with other fans of the pairing.
You're stuck in quarantine with two people from different fandoms. Who are they, and who "breaks" first?
As I'm still on a huge Musketeers kick right now I'm going to say Aramis and my other right now favourite Clint Barton, specifically comic verse, Clint.
In fandom, Aramis is also known as murder kitty, deadly underneath a surface of smiles and good nature. While Clint is badass under a surface of human disaster. So, I think they would rub along quite nicely for a while, the could practice duelling and sword fights and archery. Clint could expand Aramis' food tastes away from apples, cheese, bread and broth -- which is pretty much all he seems to eat in fic, the man is either grazing or eating thin broth after being terribly injured -- and toward pizza and coffee. So both would be cheap and easy to keep fed.
They could talk about the media they consume, I mean, Dog Cops and poetry are pretty much the same things, right? And share their experiences of being besties with mysterious deadly badasses.
As for who would break first? This may be cheating but I'm going to say, me. They're both hot, both great at what they do, both have a reckless streak a mile wide and both end up getting hurt or sick so often no doubt they'd both have broken bones, cuts, burns or raging fevers within days, and really, there's only so much mopping of brows a person can deal with.

TBH, I'm not sure why I didn't get more fannish about TUA. I enjoyed it and will deffo check out S2 in late July. But that's pretty much where my fannishness ends for it. I have no urge to read fic or look at fanart for it. Weirdness.
Hhahaha at Aramis somehow subsisting on a diet of apples, cheese, bread, and broth. Fandom's like that when a character shows a predilection for a specific food, huh? I still remember all of the Waybros/coffee thing in Bandom, frex.
Re the second question: I'd be hoping that Clint would introduce Aramis to other kinds of takeout as well. If the poor man has been eating nothing but bland stuff or super basic food, he deserves to know how great Asian food is. IJS.
