It was inevitable it would happen eventually, but last night Murphy fell in the bath, thankfully I wasn't in it at the time.
He likes to sit on the side watching the water and bubbles go down the plughole. Last night he must have slipped, fell sideways and came up looking like a drowned rat. He moves fast anyway but went extra fast once he was out, and it took me a while to catch him and towel him dry. He did look beautifully fluffy and smell gorgeous, though.
The June Something.
How open are you about being in fandom to your non-fandom friends/family?
Petty open to various degrees. James knows I write, post fic and obviously knows about my fannish friends, in fact, he's met and interacts with a lot of them, same for Corey who became used to random fannish friends staying in the house and meeting up with us. My in-laws, extended family and other friends know I have fannish friends and am in fandom, just they don't know details of what I do. Kayleigh knows all that plus that I write, but she thinks I write only porn which makes me laugh, as that's not true at all. I also have a mix of friends and family on my Insta and that can be a mix of fannish and real life, so they know through that too. My brother likes to laugh at me on insta when I post fannish stuff but he's just jealous really.
However, none of them apart from James know that I post on DW/LJ or my user name on A03, even then he doesn't read what I write in any of those places. I'm not at all ashamed of fandom and being a fan, but this is my private personal space, and that's how I like it.

Date: 2020-06-11 05:58 pm (UTC)Most of my fannish meetups have happened due to the people I met through popslash, though I do have other friends I met well before that. Camp Sparkle and other sparkly gathering have been amazing for my fannish social life, and I will forever love every sparkly person for their constant friendship and repeated offers to meet up, even when I was at my worst health wise and tended to turn mute in groups of more than a few people.
You still have plenty of time to have more meetups, maybe a UA con will happen one day. That would be great.
