I was supposed to be meeting up for a sibs dinner tonight but had to cancel the reservation because mam/Kayleigh's cat has been at the vet's having scans. She was left there at 8:30 this morning and Kayleigh was sure she'd be back in time to go to dinner. Turns out Megan didn't even get put under until 2 and couldn't be picked up until 5:45, right in the middle of the hour booking we had. So, that had to be cancelled which is a shame as I haven't seen my brother since before lockdown.

It turns out Megan is fine, all scans came back good but she's been put on the cat behavioural meds to try and stop her peeing everywhere as there is no physical cause. She does have blood in her urine but Sarah the vet has no idea why as she looks perfectly healthy in the scans, x-rays and blood tests. They did give us a scare as they asked Kayleigh to go in person to pick Meg up as Sarah wanted to talk to her, and of course, we both feared the worse as when Milo was there we just picked him up in the lobby from the nurse. So Kayleigh spent a lot of the afternoon here being nervous, all for no reason.

Kayleigh was also here yesterday telling me all about some very exciting and huge life changes she's just got underway, so that was good news too.

Staying on that theme, Corey has found a flat. It'll be his first place on his own without being a house share and is about five-minute walk from where he lives now, meaning he knows he can manage the walk to his job easily, with the metro close by when the weather turns. It's small, is on top of a fishing shop, has a Morrison's garage/supermarket on one side, another garage at the front and looks over a KFC, but he says it's perfect for him and has good double glazing. He's said he wants it so now is just waiting on the nod to say he's been accepted as the renter.

Today I've been for a walk around the Wetlands with James, or more accurately, a blow around as it's a bit wild out there. Went grocery shopping, hung with Kayleigh and the day has just gone in a flash despite doing very little.

We were both relieved that there wasn't anything physically wrong, but could have done without the phone call saying the vet needed to talk to her. It's just a shame they didn't say the vet needs a talk but it's not bad news, that would have helped a lot.

It was good news for them both, now I just have to hope all the plans work out.

I was looking forward to sibs dinner, it was typical that the cat pick-up changed to such an inconvenient time.

Corey is thrilled with that little flat. When he phoned to tell me about it we spent nearly two hours talking, a lot of that using Google maps to check out the immediate area *g*

At the moment we're thinking sometime next week in terms of rescheduling. A silver lining though, all of August they're doing a government-backed scheme to encourage people to eat out again, which means you get 50% off your bill. I just found out the place we were going to is part of that, so some pennies will be saved.

It's the space of his own Corey's looking forward to the most. Since moving out he's lived in halls then house shares so for the last five years has had a shelf in the fridge, a shelf in the freezer and a cupboard to use storage wise. So he's already got planned how he's going to arrange the kitchen.

Megan is such a high-maintenance cat.

I do hope the meds helps as cleaning up the pee constantly was all kinds of frustrating for Kayleigh.

YAY own space- always a milestone when growing up. I hope he enjoys the solitude.

I need to do walks more. I have gained weight since totally falling off the walking wagon.

Megan is a right diva. She already has different cat litter to Kayleigh's other cats and has always peed in the bath since mam had her. Kayleigh learned to live with that, but on the bedroom floor not so much.

I have a feeling he'll spend half his time alone and half with his girlfriend. He was also mentioning that while it's a furnished place it didn't have a dishwasher or dryer. Which I guess is what happens when you move from a huge student lets to a small flat.

Oh man, you and me both. Lockdown has done a number on me in terms of walking. Not just going on dedicated walks but actually going anywhere. For example, going to the cinema included walking around Durham or Metrocentre first, so there's been a slide back due to the months where the most we could go was around the estate or grocery shopping.

I'm so happy Megan's going to be alright! But still -- all that worrying. Poor Kayleigh.

Living alone isn't for everyone, but if you have the right temperament for it, it can be fantastic. Good for Corey!

Good for Corey! When I think about it, the only time in my life I ever lived on my own was while I was at university. After that it was flatshare, houseshare, married. I used to wonder wistfully what it would be like to have Christmas on my own...

I'm glad Megan is okay and that Kayleigh is doing well. I've only met her a couple of times, but I feel invested in her happiness all the same :)

Corey's flat sounds very exciting—his first place on his own! It sounds like an ideal location, although I'm glad it's a fishing shop, not a fishmonger.

It's even better to hear Corey's found a flat! There is nothing quite like getting your very own flat for the first time. Your very own space where you can do whatever you want without anyone else complaining!

I moved out from mam's to living with James, so the only time I've lived alone has been when Corey and James went off to France with the scouts for a week.

I don't know if I'd like to live alone all the time, but sometimes it is nice to just be able to suit yourself.

We still haven't been able to have sibs dinner. Hopefully, it'll be soon as I haven't seen Chris for far too long.

Up to now Corey is moving to his new flat in a fortnight, I suspect by then he'll have mentally arranged the place multiple times.

Megan is a constant worry. Right now Kayleigh's just buying puppy pads for Megan to pee on in the bathroom, they're easily cleaned and it seems unfair to put her through more invasive tests when it seems there's nothing physically wrong.
