Sep. 2nd, 2020 05:54 pmI remember posting the same last year, but I hate seeing people wish mam happy birthday on FB. Not so much the happy heavenly birthday wishes, but those that are only posting because FB prompted them to do so and obviously know nothing about her. Because yeah, sure, she would be having a good day if you know, she was here.
It's also Murphy's first birthday today. So happy birthday to that little ball of energy, I can't imagine our lives without him now. Though if they were capable of doing so I suspect Milo and Pansy would think fondly back to the good old days without him.
Other than that, it was James' hospital appointment for a CT scan and it was all a waste of time as despite ringing for the head CT scan lady to come help they couldn't get the cannula in for the contrast dye. He's got another appointment on Monday, a much more invasive one, and the CT lady suggested we ask if they'd be fitting a cannula and if so tell them to leave it in after and go to the scanning dept and they'd do it then. But, after asking they don't fit them so now he may have to go to the day case unit just to get the cannula inserted and then have the scan. Which is fair enough, but we were both hoping for answers on Monday and now they won't have them.
Yesterday baby fannish niece turned 18 so we went out for a family dinner. A small one as my MiL was ill and my FiL wouldn't come and Corey had to work. But, we had a good time with lots of laughs. Sometimes, because all of their focus tends to be on my smallest niece and nephew, I forgot just how much my SiL and her partner make me laugh and we can have a good time as adults and friends and not just an auntie and uncle.
Because I wasn't in the mood to cook we got a takeaway on the way home from the hospital and now I'm tired and too full, so have a bath, book and blanket on the couch with my name on it.

What a rigmarole for James! I hope you won't have to wait too much longer for a useful diagnosis.

Date: 2020-09-03 05:57 am (UTC)I'd like to say Murphy is grown up now he's one, but I suspect it'll be a few years yet before he slows his energy down *g*
I don't blame the CT dept at all for not being able to insert the cannula, and there came a point they didn't want to keep trying due to hurting him which was a good decision. It's just disappointing when we were expecting Monday's test to happen and then to be given news after.

Date: 2020-09-03 05:59 am (UTC)I did enjoy my bath, book and blanket. Though instead of my book I ended up reading an angsty to the extreme MCU A/B/O fic. Not my usual go-to in terms of trope but what my mood called for last night. Then I found out it was a WIP so had to subscribe.

Date: 2020-09-03 06:01 am (UTC)Murphy seemed to have a nice day, and it was lovely to see photos of all his sibs on the closed adopters group I'm a member of. Apparently his huge ears are a family thing.

Date: 2020-09-03 10:16 am (UTC)I wish he could catch a break. We both thought that scan appointment would be the easy one, but nope. Right now I really wish Monday was over and done with.

Date: 2020-09-03 06:11 pm (UTC)A slightly belated happy birthday to Murphy! I was going to ask if he had a nice birthday party but then I realised that every day is probably party day in Murphy's life :-)
Ugh, what a frustrating waste of time it all sounds like. I feel so sorry for both James and you.
I refuse to believe bb!fannish niece is 18! It's completely impossible that she's gotten that old already. It sounds like you'd a fun dinner together.
I hope you'd a nice evening with your book and bath!

Date: 2020-09-04 05:41 pm (UTC)Ha, that's very true about Murphy. He's just rediscovered the fish lately so likes to stand on top of the tank trying to get at them through the glass. One day he'll realise it's not actually possible.
Thankfully James got an appointment for today for a redo of the scan and going to another department first that specialise in doing cannulas meant he got one inserted, so that test is off the list.
I know, she's getting so old. It's hard to believe she's classed as an adult now.
I did have a good evening, but ended up reading fic not my book.
