Happy New Year!
Jan. 1st, 2022 05:30 pmI want to wish everyone a happy new year, may 2022 be better for us all.
Snowflake Challenge has started, but I haven't time to actually do the challenge today so expect a catch-up tomorrow.
Today we went grocery shopping at Company Shop as they had 50% off all fresh food, so as we had space in the freezers now, went to take advantage of that. Only to find all fruit and veg was being sold at 20p a pack, well-dated and good brand stuff too. So our fridge and freezers are bulging again for very little money.
After that, we went for a walk at the beach and then on to my SiL's where she'd invited us for a New Year dinner which was delicious. Spent a few hours there and then came home where I've been juggling shopping and shoving stuff in gaps for the last hour.
At least I know my leg issue really is muscular now as it was feeling better before going for that walk and now, ouch.
It was packed at the beach, so many people and dogs there, but what was weird was the temp. It was 14 degrees and all I needed to wear was a long-sleeved top, and trousers etc too of course, that's ridiculous for the 1st of January.
Not that I'm complaining. It's just strange being so warm.

Date: 2022-01-02 03:40 pm (UTC)I did get awesome deals. I only went for the half-price fresh stuff so the fruit and veg was a huge bonus. If only I had a huge freezer too.

Date: 2022-01-02 03:39 pm (UTC)I'm amazed at how much work happens behind the scenes for Snowflake, but am ready for when it's my turn to step up. I've loved the challenge for so long it feels right to help a little from the other end. Plus, I look forward to reading your answers if you do take part.
And the same to you. I'm always glad when you reappear here.

Date: 2022-01-02 06:45 pm (UTC)I'm glad your leg is feeling better (before the walk, anyway *g*), and that you got good deals and a good dinner.
It was warm here yesterday, too! 51F (10.55C), so a little cooler than you, but still very nice for January.
I remember one day, when I was in college, it was so warm one February day that we were sitting outside on towels, basking in it.

Date: 2022-01-04 10:07 am (UTC)My leg feels fine then I go for a walk and it aches again. Sadly I can't really take that as an excuse not to move *g*
It seems the temperatures are strange for the time of year in many places. But yeah, I expect to be huddled in blankets in February not basking in the sun. So that would have been strange.

Date: 2022-01-04 10:05 am (UTC)Oh man, me too. When I was doing the 111 online thing and they said to go to minor injuries I got quite the shock.

Date: 2022-01-02 08:37 pm (UTC)Yay for cheap grocery shopping!
Celebrating the new year by talking a walk along the beach sounds like such a wonderful thing! But yeah, I thought we had warm weather - it was +7C this afternoon - but your temperature is just silly!

It's back to freezing today but that 14 at the weekend was all kinds of wrong.

Date: 2022-01-02 08:41 pm (UTC)It's been horrifyingly warm, I really don't like it at all.
I'm glad about your leg, although I hope it eases completely very soon <3

Date: 2022-01-04 10:03 am (UTC)You know, I really get that feeling. Like, over Christmas I had to juggle 2 5kg bags of Quorn fillets that I have in the freezer. I got them because a while back Company was selling them for 20p a bag and I couldn't resist. But man they take up space, even with lots eaten.
That warmth was weird and so unusual. It was back to having the prise the bin lid open this morning due to ice, and that's exactly how it should be this time of years. Not being at the beach with no coat on.
Thank you. It keeps getting better until I walk a distance so it's a juggling act between healing and not turning into an unmoving lump right now.
