Oct. 24th, 2022 05:09 pmI've been enjoying seeing all the Yuletide letters being posted, especially by fannish friends who haven't posted for a really long time. It's nice to see they're still out there and still fannish, even if not in the same places I hang out.
I have the last ep of House of the Dragon to watch tonight. I'm very much looking forward to it.
We did meet with Corey the other day and he did get the stuffing hugging out of him. He's decided to grow out his hair so it's nearly shoulder length, and that along with his bushy beard meant he's looking very hairy yeti-like. But, is still enjoying his job a lot and sounded so confident about it as he was telling us about the craft beers he's been ordering and complaining about the actors who come in from the theatre next door.
The christening didn't actually happen yesterday. I haven't posted about it but Kayleigh and Lucy have been having some bumps in their relationship and had an argument on Saturday night so everything was cancelled. They've made up again, but yesterday everything was just too raw to stand in church and have a meal. So, they'll try again in a few weeks.
My MiL is still the same but now starting to crave sunshine and fresh air as she's in a side room with the door constantly shut due to her having flu. If she'd been on the other side of the corridor she would have had a window to outside at least but where she is now it's nothing but artificial light and a window to the hallway. We've visited for the last three days but my SiL will be going tomorrow so I see a cinema and walk day in our future.
My MiL has paid for tv at the hospital so while we were there we got to see Rishi Sunak be announced as the new Prime Minister. The whole political situation is ridiculous, it got ridiculous ages ago and I can't see it changing any time soon. One of the nurses who came in said Larry the Cat would do a better job, and I have to agree with her. He couldn't do any worse, that's for sure.

Date: 2022-10-24 05:36 pm (UTC)I hope Kayleigh and Lucy are able to work things out (presuming that's what's best for both of them). *hugs to everyone who wants one*
Your m-i-l is still restricted to the flu room? Is there anyway you can dress up the room with photos or drawings of rainbows and sunshine and flowers . . .

Yeah, I wonder that sometimes too. They've been under a lot of stress with both having full time shift jobs and only one working car. So hope once they get a new one this week some of the pressure will be lifted because it hasn't been fun for anyone and Bodhi is getting to the age she'll notice.
My MiL is still in the flu room, but they've taken her off her oxygen and monitoring leads today which seems like a positive step. I like the idea of photos, though. Right now her room is literally a bed, a recliner, four white walls and medical stuff.

Date: 2022-10-25 05:55 am (UTC)I'm sorry though to hear about the rough times for Kayleigh and Lucy. I hope they can see their way clearer as they go forward.
And I hope both that your MiL may get some variety soon, and that you and James get to enjoy some time away from the hospital after all your devoted support for her.

Date: 2022-10-26 01:07 pm (UTC)I hope Lucy and Kayleigh's rough patch will smooth again once they have two cars. Two full time jobs with shifts and one car led to a lot of stress.
As of now my MiL can be moved to a ward, where at least she'll have company, when she stops coughing. Sadly, that hasn't happened yet.

Date: 2022-10-26 06:05 pm (UTC)That's too bad about Kayleigh and Lucy! I'll keep everything crossed they'll manage to sort out their relationship again *sends them lots of good thoughts*
I see from comments that your MiL will be able to move to a shared ward once she stops coughing so hopefully she will soon!

Date: 2022-10-30 04:41 pm (UTC)I was surprised he'd let his hair get so long, though. I'm used to the busy beard but the hair was much longer since last I'd seen him.
I hope they can sort their relationship out as it has been great, but they've had a lot of stress lately.
My MiL still hasn't been moved as of earlier today, but she will be as soon as a bed comes empty on the ward. She's only going along the corridor but I suspect she'll feel much better with some company and an actual window.

Aw, I'm sorry the christening didn't get to go ahead, but better to delay for a day not fraught with raw emotion I think.

Date: 2022-10-30 07:29 am (UTC)I second this notion!
And yeah, the christening would have been really awkward after such a bad argument. It would have been a day remembered for all the wrong reasons.

Date: 2022-10-30 03:03 pm (UTC)I follow Larry the Cat on twitter, which seems to be the best way to get UK political news. :-P

Date: 2022-10-30 03:19 pm (UTC)You're not wrong about Larry the cat bringing the UK news. I still think he would be an excellent prime minister *g*

Same. So many people posting letters, and it's lovely to know they're still out there.
