The last few days didn't go as planned.

Tuesday, I was just getting ready to go get my B12 when my phone rang. It was the hospice saying due to staff sickness my appointment had to be changed and could I go at 2 pm instead? Now, that was the exact time Milo was at the vet's, but I knew James could probably manage that himself so I agreed to the change while also thinking that it would be better if we could change Milo's appointment if possible.

Went to the doctor, had my B12 injection and James was phoning the PDSA to see if he could change the appointment. Of course, he couldn't get through so as we had time before 2 drove to the actual practice where they said Milo could go at 2:30 the next day instead, which was great. Like I said, James could have managed but it's hard for him to hold the carrier plus, as I'd cancelled the hospice transport I would have had to be dropped off early and then waited until I could be picked up, which could have been ages as the PDSA always run late.

With time to spare, we drove to the coast, had a walk and then I went off to get my maintenance bandaging done. Not by Grahame but Leslie, the lymph nurse who did my bandaging when Grahame was off last time. I'd taken my Velcro shoes and bags of bandages but, after measuring I'd lost another two pints of fluid off each leg so Leslie said I didn't actually need the maintenance bandaging at all, which, \o/ I have to admit I was surprised, all the sitting down in various hospitals and lack of actually going out with the intent for walks lately usually results in more swelling, but, I guess wearing my compressions religiously from getting up to going in the bath at night, and a lot of moving stuff in the house, resulted in that loss. So, she ordered new compression wraps and I have to return in three months.

Yesterday James had planned to take his sister to B&Q to pick up some shelving and then it would be the PDSA in the afternoon. Except, just after 7 am the flooring man said he'd had a cancellation and if we were going to be in could be at ours at 9 am to do the floor. He actually lives on our estate, literally, a minute walk away so we knew that time would be exact, but knowing how busy he also knew it would be stupid to say no, so the next hour was spent frantically getting ready, cleaning all the kitchen, downstairs toilet and hallway floors and herding the cats upstairs.

He arrived dead on nine, and four hours later we had the new lino down and it looked so good. I'm so pleased with it. We also had three doors off the hinges and a toilet door with an inch cut off the bottom but we've managed to put the doors back on ourselves and the toilet door, well it'll have to have a gap for now.

Once he was gone we just left the mess as we had to take Milo to the vet, where it has to be said, he saw the most beautiful vet with a gorgeous accent. Not that Milo cared but I feel it deserves to be said. The vet said in human terms Milo is equivalent to 100 years old but is doing great for his age. He's got the start of cataracts but has good pupil response so can still see, still has a mass close to his kidneys but his blood results were good and the vet was happy to prescribe anti-inflammatories and painkillers as he said, at Milo's age it's inevitable he'll have arthritis. Milo's also put on weight since last time which is great.

Left there and I got to hang with Milo in the car for half an hour as James visited my MiL and then we came home and admired the flooring a bit more.

This morning we've put stuff back in the kitchen -- for the millionth time it seems, and soon James is going to take his sister to B&Q, visit his mam then home before we go for our bonfire night meal tonight. While I intend to finish the tidying, watch Christmas films and not move from the couch or computer this afternoon.

That's great news about the fluid loss! All that confusion with changing appointment times would've made me a bit crazy. Change is not my friend, lol.

I'm glad Milo had a good visit (and a good looking vet *g*).

And your new floor is in, yay!

I hope you have a nice relaxing movie day before your bonfire night meal!

I feel like Midnight mind-whammied me because I never wanted a cat, especially ~this cat, and yet he's brain washed me into loving him like the dickens. *g*

Good stuff all round, which is nice to hear. Great news about Milo; very much approve of him growing old irreverently and happily :)

Does that leave your kitchen close to finished now?

Oh man, pills. I'm single handedly keeping the cocktail sausage and primula markets alive through the need to administer drugs to dogs!

It sounds very, very close to finished, which is exciting. I'm still living with the strangely plastered walls because am struggling to drum up the enthusiasm for redecorating after the rewire, but do keep reminding myself that at least the rewire is done!

What a lot of good news! EXCELLENT news from the lymph nurse - I suspect you've been more active in the house than you thought maybe? Moving stuff around the kitchen over and over is definitely not nothing!

I hope you have a brilliant time at your meal, the menu looked delicious!

Wow, that's a lot of upheaval, even if all the pieces worked out in the end! Hurray for your legs being in such good shape! And also for a nice new floor. And here's hoping Milo will be comfortable and distinguished for a good long while yet.

Great news! I'm glad your nurse had good news for you, and new flooring, YAY! I'm glad you're pleased with it.

And dear Milo, I'm glad he's doing so well for his age. I hope he has a long, and as pain-free as possible, life. *G*

That's awesome to hear you no longer need to do the maintenance bandaging! You've clearly been doing everything right so go you!!

Congratulations to the new flooring!

Milo is such a marvel! I hope he will do very well on the new meds.

That's an incredible fluid loss! Well worth the hassle of the bandaging, by the sound of it :)

(Oh, and hurrah for Les Mis tickets! I hope it's amazing)

It's my absolute favourite musical of all time :) I've seen it around 15 times, I think, at this point. The last trip over there was the only time I've not seen it while in the UK, thanks to the whole covid thing! I think you'll both absolutely love it :)

I'm really interested to hear how you like it :) They've played around with it a lot over the years and I'm not as much in love with the current version, but it's always amazing.
