Nov. 4th, 2022 02:25 pmIt was a very nice night last night.
After getting over the shock of leaving the house after dark, we got to Re.F.Use about 6:30 and easily parked up on the main street. A short walk and we were inside and the cafe looked lovely, the same place we knew but smartened up. Candles on the tables, bottles of water or you could take your own alcohol or get soft drinks from the fridge. Though, as they depend on donated drinks the choice always varies and there was a very small selection last night. So, we ended with cans of lime diet coke.
The food itself was delicious, and I especially loved my soup. Though the dessert made me laugh, I'd chosen a chocolate bomb and they'd obviously been frozen for a while before being served as it was an effort to crack the chocolate to get inside. The bomb came with a mini sparkler attached and the brownie had a candle to give a nod to the bonfire night theme.
At one point some people were given bunches of flowers. Not every table as I assume they were flowers that had been donated but I was given some pink roses and was thrilled with them.
We were home by half nine, walking back from the car on a cold and very starry night and I was so glad I sent that email asking to go.

Oh wow, that's a big pic. I need to play with sizes I think.
The weather is supposed to be horrible tomorrow so this morning we had a quick visit to Company, where we bought many more raspberries, then onto B&M for cat food, and where a candle advent calendar fell in my trolley. Then home as James had his long-term sick/getting ready to go back to work phone meeting at midday. We talked through everything before that, so he was sure he'd remember any concerns and all seems to be well with them promising he'll be given extra comfort breaks which is the main thing he was worried about.
Mini wrimo is going well and I've managed my target all 3 days so far, which means I now have a bandom Way bros centric scene I have no idea what to do with. It's too short to post as a fic and doesn't belong in anything longer. I may just post the thing here on its own to get the words out there, and remind myself of when I was able to do that.

Date: 2022-11-05 09:17 am (UTC)No I haven't resized, it looked huge in the preview but not so bad now. Thanks for letting me know it's okay.
James is back at work for two shifts of three hours next week, easing himself in. He's looking forward to it now, and hopefully, that will be the same at 6am Tuesday morning.

Date: 2022-11-05 09:14 am (UTC)They're having a Thanksgiving evening in a few weeks and we're considering going as James' birthday meal out. I may have to post the menu and see how it holds up as authentic Thanksgiving *g* Though I know that depends on area, too.

Date: 2022-11-05 12:14 am (UTC)Congrats on your writing going well. Meh, I've seen a lot of people post stuff that's less than 1000 words. Just call it a "ficlet" and it's perfectly fine being short!

Date: 2022-11-05 09:18 am (UTC)You're right about ficlets. I should just post the damn thing, it will push my A03 posted stats up by one for this year anyway.

Well, I suppose I better keep it...
The phone interview did go well for James, and hopefully, once he goes back to work on Wednesday he won't be off sick again for a long time. Which means his kidney appointment better go well in a few weeks.
Thank you! I probably will post, it seems silly to have it just sitting there in GDocs.

Date: 2022-11-13 02:23 pm (UTC)I'm so glad your dinner went so well, it looks really lovely and it's such a great idea behind it and the roses were a lovely addition.

Date: 2022-11-14 11:46 am (UTC)It's funny because I read 'Very British Problems' on Insta and one of their recent posts was about people saying how early it is when it gets dark, and I've said the very same thing. You forget what these dark nights are like and then suddenly you live half in darkness for months.
The dinner was so tasty and I did love the surprise roses :)
