Nov. 10th, 2022 05:12 pmJames went back to work earlier this week. Apparently, it all went well and now he's off again until Monday. It's strange thinking he's been off over three months, the time seems to have flown by and looking back is blurred into a mix of things both good and bad. I doubt either of us would have thought he'd be going back so many months later when he first took the time for his back procedure.
But it was months of very early morning walks, extreme heat at times, a ridiculous amount of hospital and doctor appointments, watching sun rises, decluttering the house and then the whole upheaval of the kitchen being refurbed, learning to tile, herding cats, lots of recovery time as summer slid into autumn and here we are now.
The John Lewis Christmas ad hit this morning, I quite like it, the snow people from many years ago remain my favourite but at least it's not a shameless ad for an Elton John film like a few years back. But yeah, focussing on the small things and the care system is something good to highlight. If you're also a Christmas ad fan, you can see it here. Not sure about the cover of The Small Things, I mean, it fits the ad but I much prefer the original.
It's really windy today and Murphy has had the time of his life watching the leaves whirl by outside the windows. He's making like a meerkat now standing on his back legs to look outside. Though even that wasn't as exciting as just now when I went out to bring in the wheelie bin and when I opened the kitchen door LEAVES FLEW INSIDE! Murphy thought it was the best. thing. ever. and now those leaves are little more than leaf bits.
Mini wrimo is still going well and I now have two completed ficlets and a killjoys short I finished tonight. 100 words really is a small target, but they do add up.
And now, it's bath and book time. Though fic not a book tonight as somehow I ended up reading a Downton Barrow fandom MPREG Alpha/Beta/Omega which isn't my usual thing at all, but I need to find out what happens as my Kindle ran out of charge last night.

Date: 2022-11-11 02:14 pm (UTC)Murphy v the leaves had me laughing. It was funny watching him at the window and extra funny when the leaves came into the house.

what in the world is "Downton Barrow" - is that a hobbity crossover?

I love that idea, though boggle at how it would work. But no, the Thomas Barrow character has his own subsection of the Downton fandom based on him and his onscreen relationships, usually Richard Ellis. So they call themselves Barrow fandom. But your take is better.

Also, hurray for your completed writings! *\o/*

Thank you!

Date: 2022-11-12 04:42 pm (UTC)Flying leaves inside is totally the best thing ever when you're a cat. Lancecat absolutely loved running and jumping after flying leaves when we were outside and he used to bring the ones that swirled onto the balcony indoors so he could stalk and play with them at home too.
Hooray for writing!! *waves encouraging pompoms* Hundred words a day might not sound much but as you say, they do add up as the days pass.

Cats and flying leaves seem a match made in heaven. And I love that memory of Lancecat. I hope you can remember it and smile.

I think Lidl sort of half got there by not selling the bear this year and instead collecting toys instore. Much better than endless plushies like the carrots, that will only eventually end up in landfill.
