Nov. 30th, 2022 08:41 amGhosts US has started here lately. I love the original Ghosts so it was a bit jarring to watch at first but the more episodes I've seen the more I'm enjoying it while taking in the differences in the characters. I'm only at the start of season one and it has a load more episodes than the UK version, so I suspect new storylines will be appearing soon.
We ordered a bed yesterday! In the end, we went to a shop in town, so close you can see it if you walk to the end of our estate. Unlike the bigger chains, the lady in the shop promised the bed could be here fast, and in fact, was ready to order it to be delivered on Friday. But, that was a bit quick as the money may not have cleared by then so she's going to order it next Monday and if needed will store it at the shop until the hole in the ceiling is fixed. So, that's one worry eased.
The Rainbows company came yesterday to take away the old bed and carpet. Well, I say company, the first person who was dropped off was a lad who looked like he was either on work experience or his very first job. He was given the job to cut up the carpet, and then a few hours later two ladies arrived to help take away the stuff that needed to go. So the bedroom is looking very bare now, there's also still a huge damp patch where the carpet got soaked so we've still got the dehumidifier for a while.
There's also carpet fluff everywhere on the landing and stairs which I really need to hoover. Which of course is why I'm procrastinating by doing this post.
It's James' birthday tomorrow so as per tradition at his work, and as he's off tomorrow, he picked up two dozen doughnuts at Krispie Kreme to share with his team. I'd say I hope he brings me one back but they're like locusts through there so I doubt that will happen.
I feel for him as there's another mail strike today and tomorrow so no cards will arrive, and something I've ordered for his birthday will be late. That's not even thinking of the craft supplies that were ordered on a fast delivery nearly a fortnight ago.
But, we're off to the theatre and a meal tomorrow and cards are always welcome, even if they are late. So I'm sure he'll still have a nice day.

Date: 2022-11-30 11:38 am (UTC)I'm sure he will have a good day. Normally we'd put the tree up but between going to the theatre and the fact you can't actually reach the cupboard where I store the decorations that will have to wait for now. So a meal and show it'll be.

Date: 2022-11-30 12:17 pm (UTC)Cards and gifts are nice but I think what you have planned sounds like a lovely birthday without them and now he just has something to look forward to (one Christmas, I gave my housemate an a present like a 'Pass-the-Parcel' gift, with multiple layers of wrapping, and within each layer was a piece of paper which gave her part of the sentence which built up to tell her what her Christmas gift was. Because I'd ordered and paid for it, but there were delays which meant it wouldn't arrive until the new year, and I was waaaaaaaay too poor to buy a substitute gift. I think it worked, because she still got the joy of the reveal on Christmas morning, and then the fun of anticipating the gift arriving)

Date: 2022-11-30 01:00 pm (UTC)That sounds like such a fun way to announce a delayed gift, I'm smiling imagining your housemate unwrapping each sentence. And you're right, he will have a lovely birthday without cards and a gift.

Date: 2022-11-30 05:35 pm (UTC)happy birthday to James! too bad about the mail affecting cards/gifts, but your plans sound like a good celebration of him! too bad his coworkers are locusts, and won't likely leave any doughnuts for you *g*

Date: 2022-12-01 08:03 am (UTC)They did not leave any doughnuts! Not that I expected them to. But he did come home with a tin of Roses chocolates and a card from his team which was nice. They've had a lot of new starts lately and it seems they've brought some fresh air back to the team which had got a bit jaded over the last few years.

Date: 2022-12-01 07:58 am (UTC)I'm glad the seasons are longer as I'm enjoying watching, and the fact it's being shown one episode a night means I don't have to wait long for each new ep.
I was surprised when the woman in the shop said the bed could be delivered so quickly. The builders are coming to assess the ceiling later this morning so hopefully, progress will be made on that repair soon, too.

Royal Mail continue to frustrate me. They're striking again today, so yet more mail will be piling up.
