I bought a Magic Bag from Morrisons yesterday, but this one was for groceries. I've read Morrisons can be a bit hit-and-miss in terms of what you get, but I thought I'd give it a go, and while it wasn't the best bag, it wasn't the worst either.

Not that the pick up started well as when I arrived in my time slot the lady at the counter said they didn't have any Magic Bags made up that day, and that sometimes the message that there was nothing today didn't reach Too Good to Go. But, she called for someone from the fresh department, and the man that arrived actually went and made up a bag, or well, a cardboard stacker tray.

For £3:09 I got, a loaf of brown bread, crumpets, six rolls, two small posh yoghurts, a garlic flatbread, a package of mini sausage rolls, a bag of coriander, a bag of salad leaves, a huge bag of small white turnips, fresh beetroot, two lemon cupcakes and a bag of casserole vegetables. So while I got my money's worth, nothing stands out as spectacular.

A sausage casserole is cooking right now and I have a bag of carrots in the greenhouse which I bought in the supermarket 19p veg wars at Christmas. They're still good so I think I'll also make some carrot and coriander soup. I just have no idea what to do with all the snowball turnips. When I was a kidlet my dad grew them in his allotment and he used to dig them up, brush off the dirt and let me and my brother eat them fresh from the ground. But I fear for my teeth caps doing that now, so suspect I'll have to try mashing them. Or if anyone has any tried and tested snowball turnip recipes please share.

James was back at the doctors again this morning and was signed off work for another week. He's feeling better but not well enough for going back to work yet, as shown when he felt really unwell while in Morrisons yesterday and had to sit in the cafe for a while to pull himself together. He's also being referred for an x-ray as his hip is acting up big time as well as physio. Though as the nurses are striking today and tomorrow those referrals won't even get started until Wednesday.

I do wonder if he's got some kind of note on his account to give him an appointment with the doctors who know him if possible. This morning when he rang he was 40 plus in the queue, and we both thought no way would he get an appointment, but the receptionist just asked if he could get there for nine, so it looked like she put him in before clinic started. Which is good in one way, but a shame he's there so often it's needed.
