Sep. 5th, 2023 08:18 amMost of the schools in the area go back today.
The little girl who lives next door is starting her first year of infant school and was very excited about doing so when I talked to her yesterday. I'm looking forward to seeing all the photos on Facebook where the kids look so neat and tidy, and then inevitably come back looking like they've been dragged through a hedge backwards.
James had his own sort of back-to-school moment yesterday because he started back to work. Only two four-hour shifts this week, then three-four hours next week, gradually increasing in time over six weeks with the option to extend that if needed. Occ Health did make noises about him extending his time off until he could see the work physio, which I understand from their thinking, but from ours, and the fact he's only been getting half pay and more importantly, feels okay, just needs to build stamina up again, meant he said no to that. But, they are keeping in close touch to ensure he's not being rushed back too fast this time.
Bodhi, with Lucy's help, decided she wanted to video call people last night. She did not pick a good time to do so. It had been hot all day, I'd been working in the garden, had a lobster bath and had just settled on the couch looking like a giant red-faced tomato when the call happened. Down with unexpected video calls, I say!
It's going to be another lovely day so was just out hanging the washing on the line, and was there when the construction noise started, so they must start at 8am on the dot. It's still the same thud thud thud but I don't really notice it in the house now so it seems people were right and it has started to fade into white noise. It is interesting seeing the retail park be built, they have huge metal columns sticking out all over now, which I assume are something to do with the foundations.
Today we're doing a tip run for my SiL and then have been invited to Pauline's for lunch. I suspect she's got an ulterior motive to ask us to take some golf clubs and bag that my brother has been supposed to have been picking up for nearly a month now. They belonged to dad and she wants Chris to have them, and he keeps saying he'll get them but never turns up. I do get he needs to prioritise when he's got his own business, and is working so hard he's exhausted at the end of the day. But I do wish he'd be more reliable when he says he'll do something.
Ah, my neighbour just posted the first-day photos! Her little girl looks adorable! She's going to the same infant school Corey attended and the uniform has changed so much. He just had to wear a logoed polo shirt and jumper and grey trousers, now they do the whole shirt, tie and logoed cardigan thing.
