Sep. 28th, 2023 01:40 pmSomeone has apparently maliciously felled the Sycamore Gap Tree. I can't comprehend why anyone would want to do that, it's not like it would be a spur of the moment act, someone would have actually had to get there complete with a chainsaw. I really don't understand some people.
Lunch out with Pauline and her daughter, Michelle, went nicely yesterday.
We were taking Michelle for a pre-op appointment first, so we were out of the house by nine. Sadly, due to existing conditions she couldn't get her op authorised and had to be referred on to a bigger hospital, so that was a bit of a waste of time, but at least she has been referred.
I'd booked a table for midday at a place in our hometown, somewhere that had been newly refurbished, and the food was delicious, if a touch more expensive than our usual haunts. Plus, as we could see into the kitchen the food came along with some entertainment when the chef started swearing and throwing chips into a bin as they were undercooked, very much giving off Gordon Ramsay in Hells Kitchen vibes.
Pauline was telling us her neighbour couldn't believe that we still kept in touch after dad died and that Pauline still considers us family even though she and dad never married. I mean, if we didn't get on that would be understandable, but Pauline has been in my life since my early teen years, same with Michelle and her brothers. While dad was the person who brought us together, it wasn't a connection that would be severed as soon as he died, and I think it's sad someone thinks that it should have done.
Going out did make us miss an event at Re.F.Use. They're getting new freezers so were getting rid of all of their old freezer stock, pay as you wish, and were having a plant sale with the same terms. I would have gone for sure normally, but I know it's not something Pauline would enjoy at all.
Tomorrow we have to take my SiL out for some errands that need the car, and my MiL has asked if she can come along too so I fully intend to enjoy my quiet day today. Plus, I need to go get my B12, which badly needs doing, and I'll ask about my flu jab while I'm there as they usually give both together.
I enjoyed Bake Off last night, and am glad they seemed to have simplified the challenges a little, as they were getting ridiculous. Also, very much enjoyed Celeb SAS and seeing Matt Hancock be pushed in a lake. I look forward to more of that in future episodes.
