Kevin went to start his vaccinations at the vets this morning, and also got some medicine for his runny nose, so hopefully, he won't be shooting snots everywhere soon. Of course, he charmed everyone, as well as falling asleep in his crate while waiting, and then jumped from the table onto my shoulder while in the consultation room. The vet even gave him a free nail clip and some toys to take home, and it's not often you get anything for nothing from there.
Then this afternoon I was at the hospital to see about inserts for my foot. The guy I saw was nice enough, and I now have inserts for my shoes, but he also wants me to wear shoes that aren't as flexible to give more support at the sides. The problem with that, of course, is, I can't wear anything that's higher than ankle level or above because of the lymphedema. But, I'll look, see if such things exist. Until then, try the inserts, and I'll be reviewed in three months or so.
The lymphedema nurse also phoned, and I told her that I want to go back to wearing the compression stockings. The wraps are brilliant when I first get them, but lose grip within a month and atm, 6 months since my last new ones, the compression is barely there at all and every time I walk I have to rewrap and haul the things up again. She agreed I could change, but said as they're made to measure, so need an in-person clinic visit, the next available appointment is the end of Feb beginning of March, which seems ages away right now.
Tuesday, we went to MetroCentre and saw Next Goal Wins which I enjoyed. Like most sports films the plot was obvious, especially as it was based on a true event, but the characters were interesting and setting good, so the time flew by.
Before that, we'd gone to Wagamama for lunch and spent the restaurant vouchers we got for Christmas. The service was great, and we both ended up with ramen, which was very tasty. I wanted to try the tofu version and that was a good choice, with just the right amount of spice. But, I obviously need to cultivate ramen eating skills beyond picking up the bowl and shovelling in noodles while hoping for the best.
I also had a missed call from the doctor that day, which always makes my heart race as I inevitably think someone is wrong, no reason to, it just happens that way. But it was just to say it's time for my yearly blood tests, so I have those to look forward to at the beginning of February.
Add in looking after Kayleigh's cats for the last few days as her, Lucy and Bodhi are off on a short break, and it feels like I've been in and out of the house constantly, lately.
