It was our weight management appointment yesterday, which I'll cut for weight/food talk

Since the last appointment 6 weeks ago, I've dropped another 18.5 pounds, making an overall loss over the twelve weeks of two and a half stone. While James' overall total is one stone and one pound, so we're both very pleased.

I think doing the same programme together is helping loads. Before it was just me, but now we've both cut out snacky stuff completely and focussed on eating well the vast majority of the time, but without being rigid about that. For example, we went to the cinema after our appointment yesterday and went to Subway for lunch, getting a meal deal that came with salad, drink, and a packet of crisps. So, we kept the crisps to take to the cinema and I enjoyed them without any guilt at all.

It also helps to keep away from the snack aisle at Company, which tends to have mega cheap things like boxes of grab bags of crisps that are all too tempting if they enter the house.

But yeah, all is going well. We met the new lady, Rosie, who is taking over in our location, so the drop in sessions should start soon, as while she's shadowing now, she'll be taking full charge very soon. It's a shame the drop in sessions haven't run in our area throughout, but the one to one sessions have been helpful and hopefully, I'll get to go to at least a few before our time is up.

Like I mentioned, we went to the cinema after our appointment and saw Civil War, and man, I barely looked from the screen the whole time. What a scary film, in that everything seemed so horrifically plausible, but filmed so perfectly, along with some truly horrific images at times. I'd recommend, but it was a hard watch at times.

Today I need to wait in as our boiler is acting up, so someone is coming to look at it at some point. It's one of my brother's friends and while he is a qualified boiler person, he's also fitting us in as a favour so will just turn up when he can. Hopefully, it won't cost too much, but it needs doing as I haven't been able to have a bath the last two nights, which is all kinds of wrong.

I'm glad the weight management is going well for both of you.

No bath for two nights?!! I hope he does get there today and it's an easy fix so you can have your baths back again.

Oh, how frustrating! I hope it doesn't go off at bath time!

Woo Hoo! Congratulations to you both! I've heard that it is easier to do weight watching together, although typically men seem to lose more than women, which one should keep in mind so they don't become discouraged. But yes, encouraging each other is a good thing.

I cannot keep snacks or even frozen meals in my house. I will ALWAYS eat them before anything fresh. And if I have snacks, I'm not good and rationing. I just seem to eat my way through them until they're gone. So the easiest and cheapest thing is to not buy such things. I do allow myself a treat here and there, but I don't "always" have snacks in the house. And when I do, I try to have healthier things like nuts over chips.

Civil War sounds like an interesting movie. A LOT of experts are saying our country has become so divisive that they do expect some sort of civil war to break out, although most people feel it's going to be more of the Jan 6th stuff... so not all over, but just certain extremist groups will hit certain political locations en masse. Very scary. But what do people expect when a former president INCITES violence every chance he can? Ugh! I don't think anything will happen much close to where I live, but I wouldn't be surprised if they end up shutting down bridges, highways and possibly even airports, train and bus stations due to violence at some point. I hope not, but won't be surprised. I wouldn't be surprised if they put that movie out to make people aware of what could happen if they don't start working together. People used to LOVE partisan politicians. Now, they act like ANY politician who does anything partisan is a traitor. It's so sad and stupid! /Rant

It's so good to hear the program is going so well for both of you. I hope you're properly proud of yourself!

That sounds like a horrible and scarily plausible film.

I see from comments that the repair guy couldn't find anything wrong which sounds very frustrating. Are you still unable to have your usual hot bath?
