Apr. 26th, 2024 12:52 pmI was supposed to have a parcel delivered between 8:23 and 10:23, it's now nearly 1pm and nothing. I had plans. Admittedly, plans that could be moved, but still.
Corey messaged me around 8:30 last night asking if I was free so he could call to talk to me while it was quiet at work. Of course, I had an oh hell, reaction, wondering what was coming. But nothing bad. Turns out he's leaving his job, moving from being a manager at one pub to going back to bar only for another company. Honestly, I'm glad as the job he has now he has multiple 4am finishes during the week, followed by day shifts, then nights again and those timings were starting to take a toll, also, not actually allowed legally I suspect. Especially as finishing after 4 meant he had to hang around until the buses started again at 6, so wasn't getting home until around 7.
He also told me he and his long term girlfriend are officially moving in together, so it's all go through there right now as they look for a new place, and Corey starts his new job on Monday.
It was bin day yesterday and as there was room in the bin I did a bit more decluttering, including Milo's steps. Not going to lie, they were hard to get rid of, but recently James had a fall, landing full force on top of them -- he was fine, just had a truly impressive bruise on his backside -- so the steps were all broken down on the side. So, they're gone, but I'll always remember how happy Milo seemed the first time he realised he could get back onto the couch, and how fast and easily he hopped up them despite being a tri-pawed old fossil of a cat.
It would have been my FiL's birthday on Sunday, and the plans were to go tomorrow and put flowers in his memorial vase, which is in the garden of the café he loved, and then Sunday, his actual birthday, go out as a family to eat. Only, talking to my MiL earlier, nothing has actually been arranged. So, goodness knows what's going to happen now. I'm keeping well out of it, and will just turn up where I'm told.

Sounds like a necessary bit of decluttering even though it's a very sad one. We will all remember Milo in all his tri-pawed eldery glory!

Date: 2024-05-22 02:34 pm (UTC)He seems to be liking the job so much more. Especially the fact he doesn't have to work until 4am any more. And yeah, totally grown up now *g*

Date: 2024-05-22 02:35 pm (UTC)Corey likes his job much more. I think the old one was just too many very late nights, and then waiting around until the buses started up again. At least now the latest he's at home is midnight. And yeah, such an adult now.

We really will.

She really does, which is why I don't understand why everything was so up in the air in terms of doing the flowers for my FiL. All I can think is, since she's been in hospital since, she wasn't feeling at well back then, but never told anyone. Which is very much what she tends to do.
