It was a long day yesterday, but a good one.

First, we had an appointment in Gateshead, because Corey had managed to get a flat, and we needed to go co-sign for it. That's something we've done since he left halls at uni, so nothing unusual. That didn't take long, and then we had an hour or so to waste as we'd said we'd pick up Corey so he could go to his signing appointment as the rental office was in a really out of the way place away from public transport.

Corey met Sharna, his long term girlfriend, there as for the first time they're officially moving in together, and they looked so incredibly happy as they went in together to sign.

Sadly, Corey was at work that afternoon so they couldn't get the keys and go measure things up at the flat together, but they'll be doing that today. Instead, we took Corey back to Newcastle quayside, where he works, and we had dinner together before he went off for his shift, and we had a visit to Catpawchino. I mean, the cat café was right there, it would have been rude not to call in.

It was another nice visit, and an unexpected bonus was one of Corey's friends works there, so I always have a good chat with her. As we were leaving, and as we were the last customers there, I asked how they made the bowl tea. It's something I always get at the café, but I've never seen it to buy anywhere. She said the owner gets it imported from China, and showed these little individual packets of the bowl tea, then said, wait here, I'll give you some, and took off to the storage area and brought me back four packets, refusing any payment. The menu says it's a fruity infusion of jujube, gogi berries and logan fruit, but also has a lot of floaty green things in it too, so I'll have to work out a way to drink it at home when I don't have a teapot.

Another unexpected thing. I phoned Pauline for a catch-up and was telling her about Corey getting his flat and how it was unfurnished. Then, a bit later, she phoned back and said she wants to buy a washing machine for him. Despite never marrying dad, Pauline has been in Corey's life since he was born and very much sees him as a grandchild, and he calls her gran. But even so, I didn't expect that offer.

Then, a bit later still, it was James' appointment with the spinal consultant at the private hospital. I was amused there as the consultant was running ten minutes late and the guy on reception was incredibly apologetic, but compared to the NHS hospitals ten minutes late is nothing, at our local NHS hospital I wouldn't blink an eye at waits over an hour.

James'actual appointment was really quick, and he'll get a date for his back injections in around four weeks. But what was surprising there was, his usual consultant is off on indefinite sick leave, so he saw someone new. And this new consultant not only knew what AMC was, but sympathised that it was a hard condition to deal with. Which sounds like a small thing, but just getting that acknowledgement meant a lot to James.

Today I have no plans at all, which is good as Thursday I had Bodes from 10-8 -- it was bear week at the play café, which led to great excitement, for Bodhi as well as me *g* So I've been getting some overdue stuff done in the house while James has gone to help move some of my oldest nephew's belongings to his new flat.

It's also Christmas in July month on Movies 24, so I may have also had on a Christmas film on for background viewing as I was tidying up.

Holy moly, yesterday certainly was busy! It's great that you got to see Corey, and that they're so excited. Yay for the offer of a new washing machine; that's really nice.

I'm glad that James felt seen by having that doctor aware of his condition.

Hee, bear week! I bet she (and you) had a ball!

Yay for a day off, but not a restful day it seems.

Congrats to Corey and Sharna on their new place! I hope they will get to settle in and feel at home there soon.

And I'm glad the consultant had that helpful knowledge and approach with James.

That tea sounds super yummy. Could it just be made in a cookpot, in a pinch?

(hello!!)

Oh FANTASTIC news about Corey and how kind of Pauline, that's lovely.

I mean, the cat café was right there, it would have been rude not to call in. I mean, yes, absolutely.

That's such great news about James' consultant, it should need to be like that, but it always is good when you don't need to go and advocate for your condition

How wonderful Corey's found a flat so he and Sharma can move in together!

What a lovely gesture by Pauline! Washing machines aren't exactly cheap.

Good to hear James' appointment with the consultant went so well.

Bodhi's fascination with bears is so adorable.

Happy Christmas in July!
