I got excellent mail. Thank you so much ♥
I went to see two films on Friday and Saturday. First was The Minecraft Movie on Fri, and I enjoyed it a lot. Apparently there's a trend of people standing to applaud and shouting out lines at certain points, but we had none of that at our showing, no doubt because it was an early Friday showing and also a school day. I'm sure loads of things would have gone over my head as I've never played Minecraft, but going was worth it for just seeing Jason Momoa hamming it up in his pink leather jacket, never mind everything else.
Saturday we saw Death of a Unicorn, and that was fine. I knew going in unicorn death would happen, I mean, it's right there in the title. But didn't expect to see a youngster unicorn get knocked over, then bashed over the head, and then shot. Seeing that, I was rooting for the bloodthirsty parent unicorns who wanted the body back and did anything to get it, including lots of mauling and ripping out of intestines.
The cinema was buzzing that day, I've never seen it so busy for a long time, or as messy, as popcorn was everywhere in the areas outside the theatre screens.
That day, we also made the decision to ditch Sky and have signed up with EE TV. It was a difficult decision as we've been with Sky for over 25 years, but the price kept going up and up, and when we phoned to see if we could get a deal they said a straight out, nope. So we've cancelled.
The EE modem and tv boxes are coming tomorrow, and the Sky broadband is being switched off Friday. So, hopefully the switch goes smoothly. If not, well if I disappear completely you know something has gone badly wrong.
Monday it was class, and we talked about good and bad fats, and Rosie said she's still looking into a second class, asking if people would be okay going in the evening. Personally, I'd prefer during the day, but I still said yes. But something interesting, a new lady started last week, but I only chatted to her properly on Monday, and she said she has lymphedema too.
I asked if she went to the hospice I attend, and she said she found wearing compressions too uncomfortable so hadn't been for years, but also said she goes to a manual lymph drainage massage therapist who operates in the local area and that helps a lot. Despite knowing that MLD is something that would be beneficial, I never knew about this specialist, and I was eager to know more. After getting the details, I looked up her website after class and the service she gives sounds perfect for me, with an hour of manual lymph drainage massage. The only issue is, it's £50 a session, so I'm still going back and forwards about paying so much for something that will have to happen regularly to have any lasting benefit.
Also, reading her site, I do think I have just as much lipoedema as lymphedema as all the descriptions fit exactly. Seriously, looking and reading examples, I could have been reading about myself. Grahame did say back in the day that I had patches of lipoedema, but it's either got worse, or has been masked by the excess fluid, which has now gone down a bit. So yeah, something to think about.
James was supposed to be at work today, and actually set off there as normal. But what we didn't know was that overnight there had been a multiple vehicle crash, including four police cars that had totally closed the main road to his work in both directions. Normally it's a 45 minutes commute, this morning he was still stuck in traffic after 90 minutes and still nowhere near work. He wasn't the only one, anyone coming from our direction to control was stuck in the same jams, so they all called in late. But for James, sitting still for so long made his back and leg intensely painful. He asked if a team leader would meet him when he finally got to work, to help him out of the car. They did, but also brought the on duty paramedic who said the amount of pain James was in no way could he sit for a ten-hour shift. So, he got sent home and told to call in sick.
Thankfully, it's a day off for him tomorrow, so he should be fine going back Friday.
It's also a Bodhisitting morning tomorrow. The first for a while, so it'll be nice to spend time with her. It's also forecast to be 19C so I can see me sitting in the garden watching her bounce on her trampoline.

Date: 2025-04-09 07:19 pm (UTC)Did the lady know how many visits it would take to see a difference? If it's something that happens right along, instead of after a year of weekly visits, then it might be worth it?
Oh my gosh! I would hate having to sit in traffic that long! And it's awful that James was in so much pain. Also, 10-hours?!!
Yay for Bodhi sitting! You've had enough of a break to look forward to it now. *g*

Date: 2025-04-24 03:30 pm (UTC)I did enjoy Minecraft, it was silly fun. But yeah, if we didn't have the unlimited card I would have passed Death of a Unicorn by, it wasn't great.

I was thinking about your point at the last class but sadly that lady wasn't there to ask, because I think how fast things happen could make a difference in terms of getting appointments or not. Hopefully, she'll be back on Monday.

Yeah, he does long shifts. At his work they can either do five days of eight hours or four days of ten, and he prefers to have that extra day off.

I did have a nice break, shame it didn't last *g*

Date: 2025-04-10 12:34 pm (UTC)I'm glad you had a nice chat and things in common with someone new in your class. I'm sure that made her feel comfortable and welcome!
I'm sorry James got stuck in the traffic jam and it caused issues. I hope he's feeling better soon!

Date: 2025-04-11 03:56 pm (UTC)James had to take today off too as his hip has stayed in a spasm, but is much better than it was. He was like a crumpled up shuffling zombie when he came back on Wednesday. A journey that didn't take over 90 minutes, but close.

Date: 2025-04-11 06:58 pm (UTC)It figures that of course massage therapy like that is scarily expensive. Very frustrating but I can't say I'm suprised. All the good luck figuring out if it will be worth it!
Oh no, poor James!! I hope he's feeling much better again now!
It's been warmer here too the last couple of days but not enough to sit on the balcony yet so I'm very envious of you!

Date: 2025-04-15 03:59 pm (UTC)I'm still thinking about the massage, mainly because while I know it'll be helpful, I also know that's a lot of money to keep spending.
James is on the mend.
We've been having some beautiful weather lately, getting to 20/21c on Friday which is insane for this early in the year. It got colder Sunday, but even then, it's still sunny. Hopefully, you'll be back on the balcony soon.
