I was at the gym this morning using the lat pull down machine that's in the free weight section. I'd done two reps when one of the muscle guys came over and said he'd noticed I was using a narrow grip, and he thought a different attachment would work better for me.

So he found this different attachment, changed it for me, and showed me how to use it, and yeah, it felt much better. He went away, then came back and said he thought using it the other way would be even better, so did the change again, made sure the bar was braced over my lap properly, corrected how I was holding, and again, I knew what he meant about a more comfortable grip.

But man, between the sets I'd already done and then the ones I did with the new attachment, my shoulders were feeling it.

I had a quick talk with him and another lady afterwards about how there really should be a staff member actually in the main gym to do things like this. As it is, you had to do an induction, which consists of watching some videos on the app about the main machines, and one staff member walks around every half an hour or so checking the bins and that the antibacterial wipes are fully stocked, but other than that, like I told them, it feels very much like you're thrown in the deep end and expected to swim.

Between that helpful guy, nodding hello to some regulars, the woman from class who goes there, and Corey's old reception teacher, who greeted me by name despite Corey leaving that school nearly 19 years ago. It feels like being invisible may be impossible.

Journaling: What is making you smile these days? Create a top 10 list of anything you want to talk about.
Creative: Write from the perspective of a house or other location.

These guys, MCR! I've been enjoying watching footage and seeing new photos from their concert so much. My love isn't as intense as it was in my height of bandom days, but it's still there, and I still think Mikey is hot like fire.

Seeing him with his bro, how happy he looked throughout that surreal, weird and yet awesome show, well it made me smile, too. Also, comments from Gabe and Travis on Mikey's Insta post, it was like being thrown back in time in the best way.

So, lets go old skool and have a top ten plus four picspam.

And if you want to watch the concert, the full thing is here.

That's very sweet that he came over to help! That can be a tough call because some people do NOT appreciate it. Sometimes I've tried to help people, and even if I only had the best intentions, it seems to piss some people off that I'm sticking my nose in their business. So yeah, it's nice that he took a chance to offer assistance, and was able to help you out with a better grip!

I agree, there really should be at least one person in the gym available to help give people tips and such. I haven't downloaded the app to the new gym yet, but their site says they have a FREE app available to anyone, and it has a bunch of exercise routines and such. I haven't looked, so no clue whether it's stuff that would require gym equipment or if it also includes things you can do on your own.

I've been looking at that gym I'm planning to join, and I see some 30-minute classes in various things, limited to 8 people. But there's also a 30-minute introduction you can sign up for, limited to 5 people, and also some 15-minute one-on-one sessions with a trainer to develop an individual plan. The one near my house isn't open yet, but I looked at the closest one (about 20 minutes away), and there are plenty of open spaces to sign up even for today. Lots of those one-on-one slots still available. So I wonder, what are the trainers doing if no one signs up? Hopefully, they're hanging out in the gym willing to help out anyone who needs it.

I gather, if someone wanted to, they could sign up for a once-a-week 15-minute one-on-one with a trainer to evaluate how they're doing, and if they need to tweak their workout. I know I mentioned it before, but I'm going to ask for the senior lady training, focusing on strength training. I mean, I'll probably give the treadmill, eliptical, and cycles all a try, and maybe I'll like them better than walking out in the weather (especially when it's HOT, COLD, or RAINY. But we shall see.

Anyway, it's very nice that the guy was willing to help you out, and you were willing to accept his help!

Gyms these days don't seem to be bothered about their customers being safe and using equipment to their best advantage. Our gym hardly ever has any staff on the floor, and if they are, they're running a short circuit session. Bah.

Fun to go old skool with your piccies!

That was so kind of the muscle guy! I find it so strange gyms aren't required to have personel in attendance at all times. Just watching a video can't be enough! What if someone hurts themselves because noone's told them how to use the equipment correct?!! From what I understand it's the same here in Sweden :-/

No, it certainly sounds like any dreams you might have had of being invisible was completely futile ;-D

Our band! Back again! (And now I just had a brief backflash to BSB!)

I know this is Newcastle, and also I've not been but I've heard good things about: https://bodyimagefitness.co.uk/ and they're doing intro to weightlifting courses at the moment, could get you learning the stuff you need even if you stick with your current gym long term?
