musiclver20 and may I just say how mean she is here ;)
1) What one fandom do you think everyone should at least read fic from?
See, mean! I love all my fandoms that I'm in, which are The Sentinel, Mutant X and popslash for anyone that lives under a rock *g* So it's really hard to pick one, however, if pushed I'd say Popslash. I know a lot of people won't read it because it's RPS and dismiss it out of hand and I'd never force anyone to read anything they're not comfortable with. But I think it's a shame if they don't read as popslash has some awesome writers. Yeah, it has it's share of Mary Sue teenie, I'm-a-dancer-called-Summer-and-I-got-a-job-dancing-with-nsync-and-justin-fell-in-love-with-me, writers but it has writers that can break your heart, make you laugh and are really just fantastic. Plus, there's so much canon you can draw on that makes the stories feel real. Don't get me wrong, I know it's not real but when they hug, kiss, touch and say they love one another it's easy to pretend.*
2) What's your favorite song right now, and why?
Right now it's Hold On by Good Charlotte, but that changes week to week. I love Hold On for it's message, that we all go through bad times and you just hold on and it'll get better. The video makes me cry but it's a song full of hope, and I love that.
3) Most prized possession?
A couple of years ago I went to a Trek con. Most of the Voyager cast were there and I'm a major Voyager fan. I bought a print that was signed by all the guests, it cost so much I'm ashamed to say just how much but it's precious to me. It reminds me of a fantastic con, wonderful guests and just having a ball all weekend.
4) How did you find/get into the *Nsync fandom?
I have to admit if you'd asked me this time last year I wouldn't have been able to tell you the name of anyone in *Nsync, I knew some of their songs but no details. But I'd been a fan of BSB for a long time. At the beginning of last year I started to look for BSB slash and found nothing good, then I tried a few months later and found a few good sites. This is making the actual process much shorter than it was as I worried for a while about admitting I liked rps. It's a hotspot to a lot of people and at one point I was going to make another LJ just for BSB stuff. In the end I didn't. I post everything under my real name, media and popslash. Anyway, one day I had the urge to write Kevin/Howie, so I did. Posted it at the BSB slash comm and you don't want to know how I felt, terrified didn't cover it. But a few kind people commented so I wrote another, Kevin/Nick. Around this time I discovered that good BSB slash is in short supply so I had to start reading crossovers. And that was the start of my descent into popslash addiction. I kept reading about this Chris Kirkpatrick guy, so I looked up his picture and within seconds was hit by this huge lust thing that keeps getting stronger every day, plus a huge amount of admiration and respect for everyone of them. It was insane, within a week my picture folder expanded by thousands of pics, I bought every CD and DVD I could get my hands on and I was gone.
Getting into the fandom itself was a little harder, not that people were unfriendly just I have this thing about friending people, so I found it hard to friend anyone at first. But one day I decided I had to stop being a wimp and just comment and friend already, so I did, slowly becoming part of the fandom. Not a huge part but a part I'm comfortable with, and now I couldn't imagine a life without BSB and nsync and all the wonderful popslash fans.
5) What is your favourite pairing to read or write?
I knew I'd get this! I don't really have a OTP, I'll read anything if it has Chris in it, but if pushed I'd say Trickyfish to read. The banter in that pairing can be fantastic and they go so well together. I haven't written much, only one Choey and Joey/JC for the SeSa and a few TrickC ficlets. I did enjoy doing them because JC is so different to Chris in some ways but in others, like strength of will and determination they can be so similar.
* I have to say here that I do know it is real. Reality, who needs it? ;)
I enjoyed that :)
