Okay, so in the last two weeks I've been sick, Corey's been sick, James fell over and dislocated his shoulder. My sister came out, a friend of James' family died then a close friend of my family died who I liked a whole lot. We had to grovel at the bank for money,I found out our neighbour has cancer, I upset a good friend and went MIA to a lot of the others because every damn night something happened.

But, we also got the money we needed and have paid off a load of creditors, Corey is well, James is in a sling but okay, I'm better ( apart from my lizard skin patch, but feh about that ) I'm on a writing streak you wouldn't believe, even though my mind is cluttered with sdbs and mutants and Sentinels right now. I love JC's album and I love watching my MX episodes. I have Chris pics and awesome people who comment and make the writing of the AU a pleasure. I'm happy damn it!

You people rock my world. I hope you know that. *hugs flist hard*



I've been thinking about the AU this morning and trying to work out how to tell everyone's story when I'm only using Chris' POV. It's sort of limiting doing it this way, but I like having only the one POV, it just means some info may be missing unless Chris is told about it or overhears/sees. I wanted a Lance/Joey scene but unless Chris is sitting listening, or Joey/Lance relates it after that's not going to happen.

I've got a tentative plot now -- go me *g* -- but the problem I have is the end I want is too pat for a story I'm trying to base on realism. Also, two major angsty events I need to weave in. I have these two scenes in my mind but it's not time for them yet.

Also, the lambs thing, the fact I'm adding under age sex to the list of things I write makes me laugh. Not that I've decided if there will be sex yet, this story doesn't seem that sexual to me yet. Hmmm, I wonder if Joey needs to get some?

Some questions now for all you American's or you people that are smart and know more than me. Hospitals, clinic's etc. I know you have to pay but what happens if you can't? Do you have to suffer or is there something like the NHS for poor people?

At what age is someone classed an adult? Lance is 18, so here he'd be an adult but I'm not sure for the US. I know Justin would be a minor at 15, so how seriously are missing children cases taken by the police? Would there be pictures on milk cartons etc? Or is that something only the rich can do, not a single mom with limited money?

OH! Wait, this is a GIP too! Because Joey deserves dick too!. He does, he really does. Even though my last story was a Choey he still didn't get dick, well apart from his own ;) Poor baby. I like Joey a whole lot, I'll have to do something for his month. Thanks go to slimslash for the icon.

18 is legal adult, voting age, purchase tobacco, sexual consent in most (all?) states, but can't drink until 21. Driving age is 16 through intruction, at 18 can simply take the tests. Hospitals are obligated to help people in need, certainly in emergencies. If an obviously homeless person gets hit by a drunk driver or whatever, the hospital still treats them. I'm not certain how payment is handled, since they have no insurance or income, but still get treatment. Missing minors are serious, and treated as such, but less so as they approach adulthood. Unfortunately, if a teen wants to disappear, it's not hard. If they stay close, don't change patterns, they'll be found. Otherwise, there's not the resources to track them. Kidnapping is different, a federal crime, but missing/possible-probable runaway? Happens a lot, doubtful that it ends well very often.

Heh. I vote for both Joey and the Lambs getting some. After all, JDDT *nods nods* and hey, any Justin fic where he gets some before NSA attached is underage sex, so why stop now? Maybe for his birthday... ..there's sort of an unspoken rule that 16 is the significant teen birthday, they're now more "young-adult" than "old-kid" or whatever, sweet 16 & all that. I think it's more to do with the fact that now they can most likely drive away, but...

I agree Joey should get some. Poor guys must be sick of his own hand.

I think it may be a gloss over the sex scene for the Lambs if it happens. This whole story isn't really that sexual, which surprises the hell out of me.

See I don't get the needing to be 21 to drink thing when everything else seems to be younger. It's okay to have sex, drive and smoke but not drink? That's weird.

As is the idea you have to pay for hospital/doctors treatment, that's just wrong to me on so many levels. But people could be treated then run away. That's good to know.

It looks like the lambs families wouldn't get much help to find them, and I imagine the Bass' would get any at all. So it's up to the lambs to make their own way home.

Ah, and with the Chris' POV...

..maybe have one Lamb or the other come to Chris with questions? After all, they seem fairly naive, Justin's so young and Lance would be ignorant of specifics, given his background, other than whatever they could get off the web.
Heh. You could have Lance come to Chris privately with questions, and Justin come by after to share, thus revealing the scene to the readers/Chris, but hopefully still with a fair amount of gloss-over (assuming Justin has enough sense not to tell all *g*)
And as far as sex goes... ..well... ..JDDT, and perhaps a lovely, sweet (graphic) scene between Chris & JC at some point when they're very low and really need each other? (h/c? please?)
