Mar. 6th, 2004 01:59 pmSo it seems when I'm in a blah mood I write ficlets, which yeah, surprises me too *g* I'm going to have a look at my poll soon and have a bit of round up of the results, which I know you'll all be so excited about.
Also, the flashing semagic pen makes me excited now as I run to refresh and see who's posted, or maybe the word should be obsessive ;)
Anyway,
roncha78 wanted a Chris afraid of heights ficlet in
fic_requests so here it is.
Chris is used to photographers with their artistic visions, doesn’t blink an eye at the gold paint, or motorcycles or even dressing up in costumes so outlandish that even JC would double-take. He’ll happily glare or smile, be the good boybander and play nice for the cameras, but the line has to be drawn somewhere, and Chris has just drawn it.
The room seems to be made of glass, floor to ceiling windows cover three walls and as Chris looks down he sees part of the floor is glass -- the balcony part -- the part that gives a perfect view of the ground multiple stories below.
JC is lying on the glass part of the floor, arms outstretched, face down. He’s talking about flying, laughing in delight and looks up, gesturing to the others to try it and soon Joey, Lance and Justin are lying side by side, mimicking JC’s pose. The photographer loves it and starts to pull out his camera, then scowls when he realises he’s a boybander down.
“Go lie on the right, next to the brunette.” he says and waves his hand toward JC.
Chris gulps and looks at JC, then looks at the glass and knows there’s no way he’s going to leave the safety of the wall.
“No.” Says Chris, and looks defiantly at the photographer. “It’ll make a stupid picture, we’ve gone past all this novelty bullshit.”
“Leave the artistic stuff to me, eh.” The photographer doesn’t even look up. “You go take your pretty ass over there and let me do my job.”
Chris narrows his eyes, he wants to get in the assholes face, tell him what he can do to his pretty ass, and he will, if he can ever prise his hands from the doorframe he’s holding.
“Oh, for gods sake.” The photographer says, looking up at last. “I thought this fear of heights thing was a publicity stunt. I’ve seen you use a zip line over the audience, you didn’t look frightened then.”
Chris doesn’t reply, he’s not going to explain how much he shakes as he’s strapped into his harness each night. Or how often he’s wanted to hurl as he’s lowered on the zip line, it’s embarrassing enough that the crew know.
“Look, just close your eyes, walk over there and I’ll take a few quick groups shots. It’s not hard.” The contempt is obvious in his voice and Chris takes a deep breathe, he can do this for the group. He can, really he can, if his feet ever move again.
“Stay there, Chris.” Justin says, jumping up from flat on his belly to his feet in one fluid movement. “I didn’t think.”
Joey, Lance and JC stand too, moving until they block Chris’ view of all the glass. Chris blushes as they look at him, voices jumbling together as they apologise.
“It’s nothing.” Chris says and shrugs, then relaxes when Justin loops an arm over his shoulder. Chris leans against him, and finally feels safe enough to let go of the doorframe. “Give me a minute, I can do this.”
“I know you can.” Justin says, and squeezes Chris against him. “But the point is you don’t have to.”
The photographer splutters. “He does have to, the shoot, you’ll look fantastic against the sky. He said he’ll do it, what’s your problem?”
“The problem is you’re an asshole.” Justin replies before walking out of the door, arm still draped over Chris’ shoulder. The others follow, and Chris smiles as he hears each one curse at the photographer as they walk past. He’s got the best friends, even if they are idiots who like to pretend they can fly.

Date: 2004-03-06 06:51 am (UTC)Also, mrrr, lovely lol I love how closely you paint the guys. They're the bestest of friends and will stick by each other now matter what, and I really believe that's how it really is.
I've got a selective fear of heights lol In that, I can stand on a cliff or he top of a building and look over, and I'll be fine. 'Lovely view, eh?' lol but put me in anything moving with a height and I'll freak the fuck out. Being in cars on coast roads with me is an experience lol And roller coasters, and those car things that go up the side of mountains, and yeah, that room would probably have freaked me out something chronic. I love how Chris fights through his fears for the good of the group, they're his boys and he'd do anything for them.
**snuggles** lovely

Date: 2004-03-06 07:06 am (UTC)Has the clinic phoned you back yet?
I like to think of the boys ( hmmm that sounds like I'm talking about the BSB ) being good friends. They are in my own personal universe. It's probably unrealistic, but I like them to love and like each other, whether that's friends or fucking.
I don't mind heights so much, well except that glass thing in Blackpool tower. Stand on glass over a sheer drop? I don't think so!
Thanks for the comments, you're the best. *smooches you*

Date: 2004-03-06 07:12 am (UTC)No they haven't called back yet, they suck man lol I might call again at half past. Or maybe leave it 'til the morning, I'll get in fine as long as I can get up lol
lol I'm sure they really are great friends. I mean, they're quite often seen out together, and I don't think they're just doing it for publicity purposes. And there's been a load of people saying how close they are and how they hang out when they're not on tour or whatever. And JC lived at Lance's house for ages. But then, in my mind, that was 'cause they were
fuckingdatingtogether :o)Oh god, don't get me started on the thought of the London Eye (my version of Blackpool Tower? lol) it's fucking high lol and scary. I don't like the regular kind of ferris wheels lol
*g* Yes, yes, I'm the best, who ever doubted it? ;o) **smooches back**

Date: 2004-03-06 07:34 am (UTC)And then, Thursday night, MQ got a call from Visa to say that there were suspected fraudulent charges on her card. Someone made 3 charges of 300+$ in Mexico on Thursday (6 days after she was back in Canada). Luckily, she'd called Visa before she left to say exactly when she was leaving and when she'd be back, so she's not responsible at all. She'll get it all back.
Anyhow, despite the screaming cats from last night (now I know why people talk about caterwauling!) I am awake and alive and basking in the beauty of our Chris-ish ficletbabies!

Date: 2004-03-06 08:26 am (UTC)Aww. So sweet. I really liked that Chris got all worked up to do it for the group, and then the others made sure he didn't have to. I especially liked Justin's I know you can.

Date: 2004-03-06 08:55 am (UTC)I agree, I think they're friends too, I mean those pics at the tattoo place with Chris, Joey and Lance showed they were friends. The same three that went to Chris' birthday, I think they're going to be my OT3 from now on.
Happy thoughts about JC at Lance's house. Almost as happy as the thoughts about them when they all lived together in the beginning. Better use my no morals for this comment I think ;)
*g* Yes, yes, I'm the best, who ever doubted it? ;o)
Not me!

Date: 2004-03-06 09:07 am (UTC)But um, yes. They rule. Pretty boys who are there for each other and just, yes. And wasn't that tattoo thing in aid of The Justin Timberlake Foundation anyway? lol

Date: 2004-03-06 10:20 am (UTC)That actually made sense to me ;)
But no, see if Joey/Chris/Lance is my OT3, Joey and Lance won't have sex together, they're there to service Chris. One fucking him while the other one blows him, and I'm getting very crude today *eg*
But I do like the sound of TrickLaC, lobsters and ho *g*
There is Peter Andre Cribs on my TV.... and I haven't even started in on the drugs yet... ;o)
I think you got your drugs just in time, you must be in a bad state to watch that.
Sorry Peter, *pets him, wipes grease off hand after*

Thanks for commenting.

Date: 2004-03-06 12:59 pm (UTC)I totally agree Chris would have done it. I mean he does all the flying stunts in the shows, but he shouldn't have to and Justin knows that. I liked having Justin being the one to come to him too, it makes a change from the AU Justin that's been in my head for a while.
Glad you liked it and thanks for telling me!
Ah, my AU poll. It's here (http://www.livejournal.com/users/turps33/192478.html#cutid1). Just me trying to think about the end of the AU.

Thanks for taking the time to comment, it means a lot.

Glad you liked it.
