Good things that happened today. I was looking at my e-mail when I saw mail from BT. Now anyone that's been following the BT mail story of doom must know how worried I was, so I opened it hesitantly but it's all good!

BT merged with Yahoo last year, which is when my mail problems started, but now Yahoo has totally taken over the mail side, and my mail now goes to the Yahoo mail web site before coming to my computer via OE *Terri does the happy dance*

I've still got the same addy, but I can create fake addies now that will still get a reply to my mail box. So if anyone gets a mail from someone called beyondshame-now@yahoo.co.uk it's me *g*

But the best of all is the fact I've changed the settings so the mails get duplicated and copies stay on the website. That means even if they do get bounced by my crappy OE they're at Yahoo. I'm so damn happy I could twirl.

Hell I'm doing it anyway *twirls like Nick*

And there's more! I found Starwatcher! Someone who's been lost to me for months, and she has a LJ and she's here! I'm excited but Starwatcher is someone who I totally credit with any writing ability I have. [livejournal.com profile] castalie encouraged me from the start, but Starwatcher has patiently taught me the basics of writing, ploughing through stuff that was frankly terrible at first. Now I can snark about TS fic again ;)

I've friended you, SW. Feel free to look back at my locked entries if you want to know what's been going on with me. I won't be offended if you don't though, it's depressing stuff.

Which leads me to beta stuff, which I'll cut as this is getting long.

I've been editing this afternoon, and am amazed at the different things my betas catch. I did have a moment when I sat and thought for ages after [livejournal.com profile] grainnesgeul asked why Chris didn't get off the streets. I do have a background to all the characters, so I knew why he was there, but the why he hadn't left was something I hadn't thought about in much detail. I know now, because he told me so I added a short talk with JC to hint at why he's so mistrustful of shelters, charities etc, which I hope will be enough to let the readers draw their own conclusions.

It was also interesting to see their theories about why the three oldest characters are homeless, I love the fact my story makes people think, and now I'll pack my ego away *g*
I should also have a grammar cheat sheet printed out and stuck to my monitor, because, damn, is it bad. *worships poor betas who have to deal with it*

I should get back to it actually, I only took a break to share my mail news.

*smiles* Good to see you so happy, hon - resolving email issues and finding lost friends always makes for a twirly day...

BTW - what did you think of my story prologue? Was a decent start, I hope...

You mean your mails problems have been sorted out, once and for all? Does it mean you're back in the mailing game? Like, for real? *g*

Seriously though- you must be feeling so much better now. Mails such take a big place in our CLs *nods*

And you're lucky to have so many great and challenging betas *g*

Waving

Hi, Terri,

The mail is GOOD news. So, mine is coming, right? (Hint, hint.)

I've friended you, SW.

Well, you'll see how dull MY life is! I don't squee, even in print. But if I post once or twice a week, you'll see that I'm still alive.

Feel free to look back at my locked entries if you want to know what's been going on with me.

*g* I don't even know how. No matter; I friended you (and visited daily even before I had an LJ) to see what's going on with you NOW. Not as good as e-mail, but at least I know you're still kicking.

Take care,

Linda
