Apr. 23rd, 2022 04:44 pmWe ended up driving to Broom House Farm today. I'd heard it was a nice drive with some animals you could go and see and as it's a nice sunny day we set off early to get there for breakfast.
It was a good decision, it was a lovely drive and not that far away, only about twenty minutes, though the trip did have a bumpy start as at first, I put the wrong farm into Google maps and we started to head toward one way down south. Thankfully I quickly realised and soon we were heading for the right farm. Once there we got to pet some piglets called in the farm shop where we admired lots of stuff that was much more money than I'd ever pay and James bought three packs of sausages on a special offer and also really high quality and welfare assured.
After a wander, we had breakfast in the cafe overlooking the hills and woods and it was such a lovely morning that I really enjoyed.

We stopped off to visit Bodhi, Kayleigh and Lucy on the way home, supposedly for ten minutes and left well over an hour later, and now James is having a nap on the couch and I'm having a quick catch up online.
Today was the first of four days off for James, then he's at work on Wednesday and then off for another four days, a mixture of his rota'ed days off and using two days of annual leave. On Thursday coming it'll be four weeks since he was told he'd need a procedure because of his kidney issue and he was told everything would be done within that four weeks, but that's looking doubtful as he'll need pre-op tests too and no appointments have arrived yet.
On one hand, he's actually feeling fine right now and didn't really fancy having the procedure on what's mostly a week off. There's no problem at all in him having sick leave and his work is well aware of what's going on so in his mind better a sick day than a day he's off anyway. And yeah I know, maybe not the best work ethic but honestly, he just had his performance review last week where he was told he's at the very top of his band and can't have any more pay raises and combined with the fact he does have really good sick coverage and the cluster fuck of a few years ago where he did burn out and how that was mismanaged in many ways, well I support him taking what he's entitled to.
Another consideration is I start my leg bandaging in a few weeks and while the hospice is providing transport every day so I don't need lifts, I'd rather not have us both not at our best at the same time. The ideal situation would be he goes in the week after next and is recovering while I'm off having bandaging but I guess we'll see. We'll make it work whatever happens.
