Jun. 19th, 2023 04:54 pmI Bodhi sat during last week. Kayleigh wasn't getting home from work until 8:30 after a nightshift and Lucy had to go out early for a work college course, so I was up at theirs just after half-seven to fill in the gap. So I started my day playing in the sandpit and chalking on the path in the garden, and Bodhi did too *g*
Rosie did go off to get fixed, they said it should take a week and we have a Honda hybrid SUV hire car until then. It's a very nice car and has fantastic boot space that would be perfect for the wheelchair.
We saw the new Transformers film last week. I was chatting to one of the staff members we know before going in and mentioned how it seemed to have had okay reviews and she did this sort of hand-wavey movement that strongly suggested she hadn't heard the same things. As it was, it was okay, loud, and brash with very little plot, which is pretty much what I expect for that franchise.
Yesterday we saw Greatest Days. Corey was at work all day so we couldn't meet up with him for Father's day, so cinema and a Take That soundtrack it was. It was such a great film, a story about friendship and growing up and how people change as they grow. It made me laugh and cry and as a boyband, musical, Take That fan, was one of the best films I've seen this year. It also reminded me of my senior school days and the tight group of five friends I was part of. We were all joined at the hip and now I still see two occasionally, one very occasionally, and one never since school ended.
It's the deadline for
intoabar so I've been reading a lot of the entries and enjoyed The New Guest which is Prompt: John Wick goes into a bar and meets... Gertrude Hunt (Innkeeper Chronicles)! and Where (Almost Nobody) Knows Your Name which is Steve Rogers goes into a bar and meets...Jocelyn Schitt! Both are a lot of fun, and the first captures the Innkeeper voice beautifully.
I meant to mention this last week but on my last catch up I saw that the h/c exchange had gone live, but also h/c bingo had ended. I'll miss that comm and my many many years-long attempt to get a bingo. But a h/c comm ending, a h/c exchange opening, it just shows it's a trope that will always continue in some form, and thank goodness for that.
