Rain (TrickC)
Jun. 23rd, 2004 03:34 pmJust a little bit of TrickC for CJ who was one of my star commenters in the meme of insaneness *g* She wanted rain and cuddley sweetness, I hope this does for you.
JC likes to pretend that he’s normal at times, that he’s Mr Average, nothing more than a face in the crowd. Of course he’s not. He’s JC Chasez, and with that comes responsibilities. He wanted fame and he has it along with the knowledge he’s expected to wear that fame at all times. Glitter and shine for the fans, even on days where all he wants to do is hide in the shadows.
Today he’s restless, pacing the room from door to window, past the sunken Jacuzzi and lavish four poster bed. He could choose from hundreds of tv channels, or order fine food from room service, he could even arrange a massage or use the hotel pool, but none of it appeals. He feels antsy and finally stops pacing at the picture windows, looking out across the city, pressing his hands against the cool glass.
It’s raining still and the sky is steel grey with no break in the cloud, so JC presses closer, his whole body plastered against the window as fat rain drops streak past his eyes. From here he can see people moving far below, tiny figures under colourful umbrellas that contrast so vividly against all the grey.
“The hell! Get back from there.”
JC turns at the shout, and steps away from the window, knowing Chris’ alarm is genuine, but even a step away he imagines he feels the beat of the rain against his skin, and it’s a rhythm he needs to feel for real.
“Come on,” grabbing Chris’ hand JC runs from the room, towing him along the corridor toward the stairs. The hotel has a rooftop garden and suddenly it’s important that he goes up there so he can feel the wind across his skin and escape the luxury lifestyle that feels like a prison today.
Chris protests at first, but JC keeps moving, tightening his grip as they duck into a stairwell. Lonnie shouts from next to the elevator and starts to follow but they’re faster, and Chris seems to catch JC’s mood as they power up the stairs to the roof. They open the door together, pushing hard against the rain that tries to push it shut, but soon they’re standing in the open, and are wet through in seconds.
JC can’t stop smiling as he tilts back his head, letting the water splash in his open mouth and trickle past his nose. He still holds Chris’ wrist, but moves his grip so they’re standing hand to hand, then slowly walks into the garden. They pass flowers so sodden their petals are almost on the ground, and a small fountain that’s over flowing, creating a stream through the rose bushes. The air is heavy with scent and JC knows at this moment he’s nothing and fame is irrelevant against the force of nature.
“And they say I’m crazy,” Chris says with a smile. His hair is plastered over his forehead and a drip hangs from his nose, so JC wipes it away with his thumb before gently kissing him on the lips, where he decides the taste of rain against Chris’ skin is better than any fine wine.
“Not crazy, just a little stifled at times,” JC says softly. He’d like to look over the edge, see all the people so far below, but knows Chris would freak at the very suggestion. So JC takes a last look at the dripping trees and stormy sky and starts to walk back to the door, where Lonnie is patiently waiting.
They slowly walk back to their room, leaving puddles along the way. JC’s shoes squelch with every step and his clothes feel clammy against his chilled skin, but he's never felt better, and as he looks at the way Chris smiles he suspects he feels the same.

Date: 2004-06-23 08:27 am (UTC)I like the idea of them standing in the rain, alone except for Lonnie who stands guard as usual.
I'm glad you liked it :)

Date: 2004-06-23 08:28 pm (UTC)I love your TrickC so much. You always capture their relationship so well, whether it's fraught with angst or easy and loving. You always make it believable, no matter what circumstances you set them up to face. That's part of why I always enjoy your writing. Thank you so much for sharing this!

Date: 2004-06-24 02:20 am (UTC)I like writing about rain for some reason, I think sometimes standing in the rain is a good thing. That is as long as you can be snug and dry within minutes *g*
I'm so glad you enjoyed it, thank you for telling me so :)

Date: 2004-06-26 12:49 pm (UTC)Can I just second everything that's allready been said?
'Cause this is perfect. other than the "could chose" instead of "could choose"...
And Beautiful. And Lovely. And quietly beautiful, and yes.... ...what Raven & Jessa said, too, lol.
=THIS= is what Lobster!love is all about. Feeling the other's emotion, being by their side & caught up in it, enjoying the moments of life with them, even when you don't understand why they're necessarily enjoying it in the first place.
*happy!sigh...*

Date: 2004-06-28 05:52 am (UTC)When I write lobsters it's always on the understanding that they do love one another. Of course I feel that with all my pairings but with TrickC it's really strong.
Thanks hon, you've made me a very happy bunny.
