I could sum Connotations up with one word. SQUEEEEEEEE! If you want the long version however, it's under

James drove me to Tynemouth and I had a mini eeep moment when we actually parked at the hotel but that didn't last long after I recognised a lot of people from last year and also found [livejournal.com profile] nopsued who was just as lovely and huggy as always. Soon I had my con pack in hand, which included JC lip balm and an origami penis, and watched as various people set up the slashy erotic magnet poetry board.

Food was then eaten and the first panel attended. As we weren't picking [livejournal.com profile] interlock up until 4 James decided to sit in, something I'm sure he regretted when the talk turned to rape fic, and specifically Voyager/Tom Paris rapefic. I could almost hear his internal OMGWTF! at which point I decided to never mention the first slash story I read was exactly that.

Eventually our room was ready, and unlike last year it was bigger than a cupboard, but man was it hot. However, it did have a sea view which was a bonus. Then it was time to pick up interlock from the station which meant many more hugs and squees. Talking of which, [livejournal.com profile] _bettina_ found me and introduced herself and she's awesome, if a little wrong and disturbed, which she proved by having a weekend long ongoing conversation about poodle fucking and Justin. Wrong and Disturbed! I tell you. ;) Actually, it was amazing how many conversations were had about dog fucking. Popslashers, man, they're the best.

My timeline is so screwed up but I found [livejournal.com profile] simply_fly_away, [livejournal.com profile] seiyaharris and [livejournal.com profile] saffronra which meant more hugs, especially for Charlie who Has. Been. Touched. By. Chris. Kirkpatrick! Which meant of course we all had to touch her and experience second hand Kirkpatrick touch.

Interlock, nopseud and I ended the night in one of the comfy couches in the bar where I was quite content to listen to them talk fic until nearly 3am. At which point all the main lights had been turned off and we sat talking by the light of one lamp. Which makes me wonder if we were being given a hint *g*

The next day was more talking and panels and watching of Dacey music vids and squeeing and general Nsync love which is always of the good, especially when they're played on the projector which meant beautiful men on a big screen and a lot of happy fangirls watching and instinctively doing the "" and points at appropriate times. Which yeah, the non sparkly fans may have thought we were insane but who cares?

The moderately tidy dinner allowed people to dress up with interlock and nopseud looking gorgeous in particular. Then it was back into the con suit where we grabbed a table to talk and watch music vids through the door to the other room. We had an early night that night, going to bed at 2. At least that was the plan, because I discovered that while having a roomie is great fun it also means you lie in bed talking until 4 in the morning about all things pop.

It was an ouch moment getting up the next day but we eventually made the femme slash panel but decided to miss the next few when nopseud laid claim on the projector so we could watch lots of Nsync goodness. 3 DVDs worth of Nsync goodness in fact where the love was strong and the laughter much, because they're the most adorkable men ever.

Sadly I eventually had to go home, dropping off interlock at the station on the way. I told her she could come live with me but she said no *sniff sniff*. So I came home, laid down on the couch at 6 and woke up 14 hours later.

So yes, I had a great time. [livejournal.com profile] temaris and [livejournal.com profile] moonlettuce run a great con and the minions were wonderful. I talked to great people, laughed a lot, listened to stories be planned in the quiet of the night, squeed, hugged and got an invitation to go stay at Bettina's and sleep under the BSB, and really, what can be better than that?

Catching up on the flist is pretty daunting just now, so if a Chris epic has been posted give me a heads up please. Same for any fic, pics and news, both fannish and personal you think I should know about.

I'm glad you had such a good time! I've met some popslashers this weekend as well, and yeah, we did have some interesting conversations, too.

I have posted my first BSB concert review (I'm writing the second one as we speak) and my concert pictures, so you should definitely go and take a look.

Thank you :)

Connotations (http://www.connotations.org.uk/) is a slash con. It's only small, about 70 people I think, but a load of fun. Especially when you can meet up with friends there.

Connotations started life as a weekend planned for temaris and moonlettuce's friends and look what it's grown to now.

You guys should think about planning one, I'm sure you'd do a great job.

It really was.

The moderately tide dinner was great. There was no pressure to dress up if you didn't want to but a lot of people did, and they looked fantastic.

There should be slash cons everywhere because they're important and fun.
