It's been such a lovely day today. We've been to nanna's and the in laws, then headed to the beach where Corey and I rummaged around the sand to find shells. It was sunny and the sea was just there, and really, it's been a good day. Especially as James has turned into a little bit of a Chris fanboy. I burned Say You Will and Who Am I? on a disc last week, since then he plays them each time we're in the car, over and over again. It seems Chris from Nsync is mockable but Chris alone with this style of music isn't at all. Go figure. Not that I care, quite the opposite.

We're taking nanna out for the day tomorrow which should be fun, really it will.... No, it's all good, except I have to keep the music in the car down low which is a minor thing. But man, I hope she's got all of her back handed compliments out of her system today. The you've got such a pretty face but.... thing gets old.

Anyway, we may or may not be going to the cinema later, we haven't really decided yet, but for now I'm here and I have hot chocolate and time, so figured why not gack another meme.

1. I'll respond with something random I like about you.
2. I'll tell you what song/movie reminds me of you.
3. I'll name something we should do together.
4. I'll say something that only makes sense to you and me (or just me).
5. I'll tell you my first/clearest memory of you.
6. I'll leave you a quote that is somehow appropriate to you.
7. I'll ask you something that I've always wondered about you.

Just be aware my lack of imagination means I may have to miss out 2 and 6.

Argh, what is it about older family members and the back-handed compliments? Honestly, my (paternal) aunt is the queen of those. Whenever I've been unfortunate enough to spend a lot of time with her, I come out of it with a totally crushed self esteem, while she's able to tell herself that she was only being nice.

Back handed compliments suck. They're so annoying and like you said, the insulter can defend themselves by thinking they're being nice. Which yeah, there's nothing nice about having one small compliment followed by a whammy of a negative after.

But, we'll focus on good things.

1. I'll respond with something random I like about you.

I like your determination. You've faced so many set back, yet haven't given in. That's so cool and I admire you a lot for that attitude.

2. I'll tell you what song/movie reminds me of you.

Not a specific movie, but I often think of you when I see horror films advertised. Wow, that sounds bad, but it's because you discuss them at times.

3. I'll name something we should do together.

Drink tea and eat crumpets! That will happen, I know it.

4. I'll say something that only makes sense to you and me (or just me).

I knew you'd be a Lance fan one day *g*

5. I'll tell you my first/clearest memory of you.

Wow, you're one of my first LJ friends and that's a long time now. So, a clear one. The card you sent a few Christmases ago. It had a koala on the front and you'd written it riding on the bus. I could picture that so clearly.

6. I'll leave you a quote that is somehow appropriate to you.

I'm going to use the same one I did for Josh. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger. I know you'll probably disagree that you're strong, but you are.

7. I'll ask you something that I've always wondered about you.

What is it that attracts you to role play so much?

Aw, thanks sweetie *hugs* And hee: re 4 ;)

As for the RPGs, I think it's become my way of being creative since I've succumbed to this all-encompasing writers' block. It used to be a great way of de-stressing as well, because I could climb out of my head and into that of one of my characters, but these days it's just another stress most of the time. I've cut back a lot in the last month or two.

You're most welcome. *hugs tight*

I can understand that RPGs are a good way to be creative, I imagine to be a good player takes a lot of talent and imaginations. But at the same time, from what I see at your journal they're very time consuming. I hope you find that happy balance that keeps you de-stressed.

Well, they don't have to be as time consuming as I make them - it's just like everything else in my life; I feel obliged to do far more than I have to.

That said, it's the modding that usually stresses me rather than the playing.
