69 people have signed up for Make the Yuletide Gay which makes me so happy! There's still a little time left if you want to join, go on, be the first person in the 70s.

Also, the mentor post has just gone up at mtyg_discuss. The mentor scheme was such an asset for me in my first SeSa. Basically people volunteer to be mentors to newbies, or people who aren't new but still want support. It's well worth checking out.

I've been looking at the people who've signed, and while it's sad that some old names have moved on, there's a lot of new people on there. Which is good because a fandom needs new blood or it stagnates. Actually, I don't recognise half the name, which I suspect is due to people being stealthy with sign up names, and the fact I really don't know all of popfandom. It just feels like I do sometimes *g*

I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here started last night. Sadly my plans of watching that, America's Next Top Model and catching up on email were thwarted with mam related stuff. Which ended with me telling her to get out of my house, which yeah. The guilt is constant right now.

Still, things got smoothed over, or I suspect, on her part, forgotten about, and today is a beautiful crisp autumn day. So I'm off to take Tex for a walk. Sadly the street cleaner came around yesterday and sucked up the leaves. No more kicking through leaves on our walks. Woe.

Man, I feel like I'm...the Grinch, or Scrooge, or something. I wish I could be sure I'd be able to write any pairing. *guilts* I think I'm going to have to sit it out, though. I still have two SC stories to write (and no way am I going to make the deadlines, meep) and with my track record of the last two Decembers...gah.

I do agree with you re: fandom needing new blood. I'll never understand the whole 'newbies break fandoms' theory because I don't think it's true at all. Quite the contrary. I guess many people in fandom are a bit too possessive about their shows/fandoms with their thinking that just because you joined the bandwagon instead of being there right from the start, it means you're not a true fan. I always thought they should be happy that new people arrive and add to the dynamics. They bring new ideas, new meta, new energy, imho.

I know the SPN fandom is like that. Or it feels like it's been like that lately. Dude, I was a fan of the show before it officially aired, it doesn't mean anything. Except that I've been loving it longer, so what? I'm always ectastic when I see new faces and new fans emerge.

There's no need to feel scrooge like. I mean, I won't lie and say I won't miss you, but I also know your fannish attention is elsewhere now. But one thing I will say, you have no track record at all. So hush about that! I know you had stress, but your last two SeSa stories were lovely, and I'll keep telling you that until you believe it.

I'm doing okay. I've just come in from my walk, and considering I've slid back a lot in terms of actually getting out and walking lately, well I'm happy that I've added yet another day onto the total.

Sadly, I find it far too easy to hide inside, so I'm pleased with myself at the moment. On the way up from yet another dip...sigh.

This is random, but whenever 69 is mentioned I always remember telling you that I was friended by 69 people, and how perfect that was. Which man, was a long time ago now.

It's because it's a relatively small fandom, so I always think I know all the names. Then someone will post at one of the comms and I'll be shown that I'm wrong yet again.

I agree totally with you about the new fans. I don't get people who complain about newbies to the fandom. Sure, they'll change things, like you said, new ideas and energy. But how can that be wrong?

People get too possessive about their fandoms at times. It's an attitude I see in popfandom at times, with people complaining about hiatus fans. Which again, so what?

You say the nicest things. Thank you. It was a combination of things last night. Corey trying to get to bed, her sobbing on the stairs and saying she should kill herself. Which as you know is the one thing guaranteed to set me off. But, today is another day, and it's a good one so far.

Yay for more sign-ups. I've now got 17 people from my flist that have signed up, unless there's someone signed up with a name I don't know. Which has been done before. There's a bunch of names I recognize, but I don't know them personally and a larger bunch of names that I don't know at all. I just worry I'm going to get someone that is new and that they don't like Nsync or Xover stories. *worries* I'm just not that comfortable writing BSB, unless its AU-ish and even then... *frets* You know what, I'm not going to get myself in a panic before the sign-ups are even closed.

I'm sorry about the guilt, but I'd bet money that you were totally justified in telling her to leave. Sad, but true.

I hope you had a good walk, even if you didn't have leaves to scuffle through.

I'm glad you had a nice walk. All the trees around our house have lost their leaves, I swear you can't see the ground/grass for all the leaves. Jack loves rooting through them when Mom or Grouchy takes him out. I've not been taking him out very much lately. I just haven't felt up to going on a "drag." For such a small dog, he sure does pull me around. Making dinner or doing laundry has been my biggest efforts lately. Blah.

Did you get your 10 min. of piece. I fixed some tea and made myself a piece of toast to go with it. Mmmmm breakfast.

I'm not going to do it. I thought about it some, but yeah. I'm really not feeling it any more. I'd like to finish up a couple pieces, but doing a challenge when I'm not feeling it would end up resulting in a lot of stress and resentment...and probably not a very good story. (And to be honest, I'm not even doing the holiday challenge for SPN. It's going to be a deadline-free December *g*)

I think several Backstreet writers have signed up for the first time this year which makes me very happy!!

We've had snow today, lots of snow!! But it's not really cold enough so it's turned to icky slush on all roads and footpaths. Still, it definitely brightens up a dark and overcast November!

I know kikiduck has signed up for the first time ever. She hasn't written much Backstreet in recent years but apparently her Backstreet muse got restarted when she discovered that the NaNo idea she worked with would work so much better with Backstreet involved. She can write both hilarious stories and very quiet and touching ones. I'm really very happy she's signed up!

We actually stayed indoors today. I didn't feel like getting all snowy and wet :-)

I'm so very impressed. There were 85 or so last year I think, so 76 is not bad at all. And there's still a couple of hours left...

This must be the most pimped challenge I've ever seen though. Somebody commented to a post on my fl today saying they'd never even heard about MTYG, and I was very tempted to reply with "What, are you blind?"
