It's been a week, flist. Kay's out of the hospital but only after signing herself out and having to put in a complaint about a nurse, my family aired its dirty underwear in public yet again, multiple nasty text messages were sent and received -- not to me, I just get them forwarded and told about them, at length, by multiple people -- phone calls reluctantly taken and one long drunken visit endured. Corey was ill meaning a visit to the doctors yesterday and just, it's been a while since everything has blown up so spectacularly.
But there's also been a lot of good, including that we've found out about the CEA card. It's a card for disabled people and their carers who go to the cinema, and once you pay for it -- £6 a year -- you get a free ticket for the carer with every ticket bought. What's even better is it runs in conjunction with Cineworld's Unlimited card. With that you pay £13 a month and can go to as many movies as you like. A few years back we all used to have cards but had to give them up for various reasons, but now if James gets his unlimited card back we can start going to the cinema again, for a total of £13 per month for both of us. I've also rejoined the library which means books, lots of books, and our gardening adventures are going very well. We're eating strawberries most days and got the first sugar snap pea yesterday. You should see the courgettes too, they're awesome.
I've been watching Carnivale lately, I'm in the latter part of season one and what a creepy, weird, amazing show. Also one that lasts anywhere between 47 to 58 minutes, which is something I don't get. Each time I finish an episode I want to get to the next to see what the hell is going on. Then they just create more questions. Also, the Babylon episode was so sad. Last night we finally watched Wolverine, but all it made me do is want to read old Gambit fic.
I don't like the new Gdocs. I know it says you can uncheck something in editing preferences and I did that, and got back to the old version. For all of one session and it hasn't let me go back since. Fists of rage, Gdocs! Fists. Of. Rage!
But something much better.
harborshore asked for prompts and I asked for a Parker who could fly and she wrote it and it's just lovely.
I've caught up on my flist and now am about to go do the same at DW. Thankfully that takes a much shorter time. Which reminds me.
doctor_jasley has been posting some good stories over there. They're been written for the h/c bingo and are a series of stories featuring many people from bandom under a series called the FBI verse. It's a series I've enjoyed a lot and I'd recommend giving them a try. There's a masterlist here, though she's so prolific there's probably been more added since then.
Porn Battle Ten starts tomorrow! Not that I'll be writing for it, because each time I do Turloughmocks encourages and reminds me of when I write porn and forget about it. Then brings up my porn fail at any available opportunity. Honestly, sometimes I wonder how we're even friends. But, porn!
