The fact that I took this tweet from Pete as a message to Mikey means my tin hat is getting too shiny, yeah?

I love the new promo picture.

James was reading his flist the other day and remarked that I hadn't mentioned rl stuff in my posts recently. Not that there's much to say. We've been getting the garden ready for winter. It's sad having to bin the plants we've cared for so carefully, but it's getting cold now and they were dying, just as things started to ripen. So we've brown bags full of tomatoes and peppers on the kitchen windowsill. I've had a cold this week but am feeling better now, especially as Corey has a teacher training day today so I got to sleep in. 9 plus hours of sleep. Glorious. The cold was a bit more of an issue as James goes in for his operation next week, so him catching it would have been a problem. Thankfully it looks like he hasn't. He's also planning his first scout camp as person in charge which has led to questions like, how many pizzas do you think 25 people would eat? Answer. Lots.

It was my nephew's birthday at the weekend, followed by my sister's and then my other nephew's. My sister is also in the process of moving to live with her girlfriend, which means she won't be living a few doors up any more. Which is sad but will bring our phone bill down. Other than that, nothing much has been going on. Now aren't you all glad he prodded me to share?

To end, a meme.

The first TEN people to comment in this post get to request that I write a drabble ( in which I mean the actual meaning of a drabble which is one hundred words only ) of any pairing/character of their choosing. In return, they have to post this in their journal, regardless of their ability level. Bolding addition mine.
My other additions, killjoys verse only as that's where my head is right now, MCR and the usual bandom suspects. Also, a prompt would be shiny.

1. Gerard/Mikey -- heat of the day
2. Mikey and Ryan gen
3. Mikey/Pete -- Shakespeare
4. Gerard/Gabe -- visions
5. Gerard/Ray -- explosives
6. Mikey&Ryan -- detonation

ETA: I forgot to say. I'm considering doing [livejournal.com profile] mini_nanowrimo No way could I ever do the main one, but that looks doable.

ETA2: MTV rocks is showing Na Na Na at 4. The video on my big tv in hq. I may not survive!

The greener and harder the tomato, the better (they get all mushy when they cook otherwise.) Give me a shout if you want my "recipe".

I signed up for 400 words and D went for 500, so you'll be in good company!

*I* want the recipe! I've heard of them but never made them, and the one time I tried them in a restaurant they were horrible. I'm willing to give it another shot, though.

No problem!

Mix equal parts cornmeal and flour (maybe a cup of each) and mix in some salt (maybe 1 tsp) and pepper to taste, garlic powder if you have it, and cayenne pepper to taste (1/4 tsp at most.) Cut the tomatoes into slices about half inch thick. Dip the slices into buttermilk on both sides, then dredge them in the cornmeal/flour/spice mixture. Heat some very neutral-flavored oil in a heavy skillet (maybe 1/4 inch deep--you're not deep frying the slices, but they need enough oil to get up around the slices.) When the oil is hot, fry the slices until they're golden on each side. It doesn't take very long--2 or 3 minutes on each side. Drain on paper towels, and serve with hot pepper sauce.

They're also AWESOME as the tomatoes in a BLT.

That would be fantastic, just when you have time.

I signed for 300. I'm a low achiever it seems.

Yay, we can whine together! I did 300 words last year--failed miserably, so I signed up for 400 this year. *g*

I left my slapped together recipe for shine in the comment above--let me know if you need me to de-Americanize it!
