I'm supposed to be writing my Pete/Mikey story right now, but all I'm actually doing is reading LJ and flailing.

My Chem are in my country! In Top Shop! In gyms, or trying to be in gyms anyway! There will be new music tomorrow! And pictures! And footage! And *flails*

Also, I just read something by crowgirl13 that I loved beyond reason and nettiquette says I shouldn't mention as it's flocked but it really is everything I love in a fic, right there for me to read and delight over. Also, it's related to what I'm going to pimp now so the mention says. T has this verse called Travelling Show. It's mainly MCR but has other bandom people too, and I really do rec it highly. The master list of stories is here and if you have the time to do so, I recommend you read them all. I was saying to T earlier that while I love stories about relationships, I also love action adventure, and this has that in spades. If you love a kick ass Mikey ( seriously, the guy rocks in this ) monsters, other worldness, Bob being all Bob like and awesome, secrets, mysteries and so much more, give it a try. Recently she posted The Black Parade and What Came After which is set in the verse and man, did I enjoy every word. Just, read the warnings, and if you do read and are one of those people who take in the comments too, let your eyes drift past my enthusiastic obsession comments about crashes and neck bruises.

And now I'm going back to staring at my file. Because right at this moment Pete and Mikey will be planning to meet up somewhere in Scotland, and I need to take advantage of this motivation and actually write. That is if I don't get blinded by my tin hat.

Also, Corey's just come downstairs and asked if he can go to his first concert to see A Day To Remember. A baby fanboy. I'm so proud.

Mikey is amazing in TS. It's fantastic to see him as someone who does have weaknesses, but in a very real way, but is also strong and all kinds of kick ass. Protective Mikey isn't written about enough and he should be, because he's really good at it. I love every word she writes about him.

He has the same body type as my ex-bf, and I can guarantee that Brandon, and most likely Mikey too, are strong and wiry. Those frames might be small, but they are dense.

It's actually one of my pet peeves that Mikey is written as a fragile flower so often. Especially when that's in combination with descriptions of his willowy wrists or spindly limbs, like a stiff breeze would blow him over.

I'm sensing the JC of bandom here...

I think that every fandom must by law have a fragile, delicate character, prone to whispering their lines and fainting due to hunger. Even if the round peg of that role has to be hammered into the most ludicrously square hole of a character (like, say, Blair Sandburg).

If someone did a survey of a whole bunch of fandoms, looking for the places in which fanon departs most wildly from reality, I bet they could distill out a set of Platonic ideal characters tropes just like that one.

Yep. Like JC Mikey is often written as weak and unable to look after himself. When in reality they've both got an inner core of steel. Then in Mikey's case he's killed off in one of the videos, so there's multiple bad fics dedicated to him dying, bulimia, suicide, murder, if they can think of it he's died of it.

I often think that a lot of TS writers haven't actually seen the show. Because in no way could you ever say Blair is a frail, fragile flower, and yet I've read hundreds of stories where he's written that way.
