I've just seen the most horrible thing walking home from school. The way the schools are situated a good majority of the secondary and primary students meet around the park/church area of the town. It's always packed at 3.30 and was today. Corey and I were just coming through the church yard and we saw a load of secondary pupils in a huge mob. There were more and more joining in, hanging on the railings to see. In the middle was a young boy getting the crap beat out of him. He only looked about 14, when he was dragged out by someone his face was ruined. They were like animals, there were young children there coming home from nursery and the primary school. One young girl got hit and she was screaming. The police were phoned and luckily the station is only a minute down the road, so the sight of three police cars broke them up.

We were waiting at the bus stop after and some boys were bragging about how they kicked a girl, and others complaining about police harassment, and I just thought, what the hell is wrong with them? The thought of sending Corey to that school frightens me and it's still 4 years away.

I know it's naive but I don't see why anyone has to do things like that.

There is a reason I homeschool. When my daughter went to kindergarten (parochial, Lutheran), the other children backed her into a corner, over and over, and teased and mocked her. I was absolutely furious. My daughter is very timid (even though she's much more outgoing now that she's maturing) and shy. If the other children weren't tormenting her because she was different (she had two dads and a mom - we're poly) they were tormenting her because she was 'new' (they had known each other forever because of their church).

Gosh, it makes me mad. Um, sorry for the rant. :)

No need to apolagise for the rant.

Kids can be evil, they say things to deliberately hurt and zero in on any differences. I can see why your daughter was targeted and am glad that you were able to homeschool, but it makes me furious that anyone, not least a young child can be tormented in that way.

I'm glad that you got her out of that situation, but am still pissed that she was in it in the first place.

I'd say that was unbelievable, but sadly I know it happens. You get some great teachers but some are pathetic. They're as bad as the children, only seeing what they want to see.
