Apr. 23rd, 2014 08:15 pmThank you
frausorge and
dine for the postcards. I enjoyed both a lot ♥
Plan for the day was to stay in and get some stuff done at home, but dad has just called and needs a lift somewhere so there's that plan gone. So, another quick catchup.
James is doing fine after his op. His incision has finally started to heal, with only one trouble spot now. Which is why we've been to no hospitals in nearly a week, though we are going to the limb center again on Friday.
We've redecorated our kitchen and it's looking nice. We're not perfect at painting, but between us all we prepped and painted everything. so now our kitchen is a beautiful, bright sunny yellow. We just need a new blind now and it's finished completely.
No change in the mam and Kayleigh situation, which sucks as Kay's dad only has days left.
We got our new greenhouse and that's up now, as well as a new raised bed. Onions have been planted, seeds planted, flowers planted and it just looks so much better out there now. All of that work was done while being chastised by the blackbird who nests in the ivy. He doesn't like people being in his garden at all.
Dad's Parkinson's has been getting worse again, which is why we're off to take him to the shops as he's unable to get around on his own anymore. What he likes doing is going out to eat, but the places he and Pauline go to are more expensive than the ones we do. I'm not talking anywhere hugely expensive, but our level of eating out is Subway while their's is quite a way over that. I think we've been averaging one meal out a week, and every time dad pays for us. Which he doesn't mind and always says no when we offer to pay something, but even so, it feels like we're taking advantage at times.
And ha, I didn't get to post this before going out and after picking dad and Pauline up they said they wanted to go out for dinner before going to the DIY store. Which is why after never stepping foot in a Thai restaurant until recently, I've been to one four times in as many weeks.
Game of Thrones is back and I'm enjoying it a lot. Despite never watching any of the previous seasons or reading the books James has started to watch with me. This means I'm answering questions pretty much in every new segment. Still, it's nice to enjoy it with someone else.
I'm also enjoying The Tomorrow People, but don't understand why fandom isn't embracing one of the two threesomes that are right there waiting to be written. I mean, threesomes, they're things of joy. Of course, so are daddy issue pairings that come along with lots of angst, but even so. Threesomes, people.
As always
annemari has been keeping me in the loop Mikey wise. All I can think about that at the moment is, wow, he's a fast worker.
So yeah, nothing really to report. Lots of trips to various beaches, time out with family, hospital visits, one huge fight with mam that nearly meant she lost us too, time looking at lambs, gardening and painting. So much painting. What I haven't done is written a word, even in emails. I see the A03 meme is doing the rounds again, I may look at that and remind myself I used to be able to string words together.
I've caught up on LJ, DW tomorrow, but for now. I'm off to watch Masterchef.

That just made me laugh so much. He does seem to follow a script. I'm not ignoring your DMs btw. I keep wanting to reply in more depth but things keep getting in the way. I know you're neck deep and happy with 1D, but you're still my go to person to gossip about Mikey. Sorry about that! *g*

Date: 2014-04-24 05:18 pm (UTC)It's great to hear that James is doing so well but it's very sad about your dad.
You shouldn't feel like you're taking advantage! They obviously enjoy having you there and wouldn't continue to ask you if they in any way minded paying.
Lambs!!

Yeah. That's the way I should think of it. I need to stop thinking of how much everything costs.
The lambs were so cute.

Date: 2014-04-28 12:12 pm (UTC)I like GoT, haven't read the books though. I think I will probably just stick with the show and leave the books for now.
We just repainted our living room, our walls had been white for years. Made such a difference! Thankfully my hubby is a painter so what I see as a huge project he sees as a quick job. We still want to repaint some bedrooms too. Just have to try to convince daughter that hot pink is not a wise color choice!

Date: 2014-05-10 12:12 pm (UTC)Gardening has been a steep learning curve for us. We've made some mistakes and killed stuff too. But the successes make it worth it. Especially fresh tomatoes off the vine.
The GoT books are heavy going. It took me nearly a full year to read them all but I wanted to know what happened after the end of season one. Then of course the books and tv show didn't stick to the same plot lines. Which is typical.
Thankfully my hubby is a painter so what I see as a huge project he sees as a quick job.
That is handy. I get very jealous of anyone who has the skills to prep and paint a full room easily and quick. It takes me forever. As for hot pink. Yeah, it's a nice colour but maybe just in moderation *g*
