Sep. 13th, 2014 04:36 pmFurther to the horrible meal of last Friday, due to my tweet the restaurant chain and then manager of the actual place we went to has been in touch. She was very apologetic and explained at length how disappointed she was with what happened and how all the kitchen staff were going to be retrained. She also said how embarrassed she was to see the peas I'd posted to instagram. Good thing she didn't realise that they'd been scorned by people the world over.
Yesterday I got an email offering vouchers that will cover the cost of another meal out and an invitation to go back to the restaurant so they can show things are being done better. So in all I'm satisfied, especially that the complaint was taken so seriously.
Other things not so good. Kay and Kayleigh broke up this week and Kayleigh is back living at mam's. Unlike my brother's break up, where they're actually getting on better after making the split, this one is messy with hurt feelings and raw emotions, especially as it's a one-sided break. It's all been a bit of a rush as all summer mam's been procrastinating about decorating her bedroom so had been sleeping in the small guest room, and then suddenly Kayleigh was back with all of her stuff and black bags taking over the living room. So we've been working hard to get mam's room stripped of the old wallpaper and carpet so someone else can come in and decorate.
So far mam's been nicely supportive, but no doubt her real feelings will emerge later as she's gone to the pub today for the first time since it happened.
I'm going to miss Kay. You'd think I'd miss my brother's partner more as they'd been together for a really long time, but despite them living a few minutes drive away I only saw her a few times a year at most, while I saw Kay often. It's far too soon now, but hopefully at some point in the future we'll talk to her again.
Now though, an early bath I think. Mostly because I've been reading the YA series Uglies and want to know what happens.
