I can't believe that this time last week I was heading into hospital. The people on the wls forum said time would fly and they're right.

I'm feeling much more like myself now. I have no pain unless I move wrong but still get tired really easily. Not surprising really considering what I had done and the amount of food I'm eating.

The stay in hospital and actual op went as well as it could. I was lucky to be in a bay with four ladies I really liked. Three of whom were having wls too and the other there because they'd had a bypass a year ago and were having complications.

Due to how dad died I was nervous about the going to sleep part but that was fine too. One of the other ladies was taken down the same time as me, and she was lovely, and the theatre nurse was from my home town so we chatted about that. Then I was taken to the small room, an oxygen mask put on, drugs given and next thing I knew I was waking up in recovery.

My surgeon came to see me beforehand as he was expecting problems due to my still high weight, but all was good -- even though I have 7 port wounds instead of the usual four or five -- and he said my liver was fine. So all that yoghurt and milk eating was worth it.

I do have to self inject anti clotting stuff for a fortnight, and they're giving me terrible bruises. But it's nothing I can't deal with. They did say I was one of the few that said they'd inject themselves, and offered a district nurse to come out, but that seemed silly for what's a few second job.

I can only eat puréed food for four weeks and am finding what does or really doesn't taste nice puréed. So far I'm enjoying cheesy mashed potato and porridge, but discovered that puréed quorn mince looks and tastes disgusting. Sadly I've many pots of the stuff left as I eat so little at each meal that it lasts for ages. I think I'll mix it with some mash next time as it really is a good source of protein, and that's what I have to try and eat the most.

I've also got three sets of new drugs I need to take daily, which is a bit hard to get used to as I never used to take any before, but as of now I remain sure this was the right choice for me and I can't wait to start seeing results.

You sound like your usual brilliant self! I hope it continues to go well.... pureed quorn mince does not sound like a treat. :-( Perhaps with a smidge of Marmite?

Pureéd quorn mince sounds pretty gross, but then, the majority of meat-based purees are rather eww-inducing. Your idea of mixing the two purees is a good (and hopefully tasty) one. ;)

I'm glad to know you're doing well and that your surgery went A-OK.

Glad you are recovering nicely!

Wow, 4 weeks of pureed stuff sounds like a trial. Good luck managing through it. (I know you can do it, though!)

Glad you are still confident about your choice.

I'm so pleased you're doing so well, bb, and happy that you've made what feels solidly like the right decision for you. *dances you carefully around the room*

it's great to hear you're doing well so far! I hope the pureed diet doesn't become too tiresome - I imagine there are limits to what works well; I mean, the idea of a spaghetti or steak smoothie just boggles

So good to hear everything is going well for you!

I admire you for doing the injections yourself. I think I would be too scared I would fuck something up.

Chessy mashed potatoes is love! But yes, I can imagine exactly what pureed quorn would look and taste like and I would definitely not want to eat that. (And I'm not completely convinced if it would be a good thing to mix it with mashed potatoes. What if it makes the potatoes look and taste disgusting too?!! :-)

ALL the good luck with everything!!!

It's really good to "see" you sounding like yourself ;)

mashed potato + pureed quorn sounds like it ought to taste like shepherds pie, so that's a good thing in my book! Protein yoghurt drinks are an A+ good thing in my book, if they're on your permitted list? It must be tricky to get enough protein to heal while limited to semi-liquids and in smallish quantities, so - all strength to your elbow in balancing All The Things!

So glad to hear you're well!

I'm the pickiest person on the planet, (at least my planet.) So kudos to you on the puree stuff. I'd probably just whine a lot.
