Apr. 23rd, 2017 12:25 pmIt was the first early start for a while this morning. But really, I don't mind them at all, and I especially like that it's dinner time and all the stuff that needed doing has been done. Including cleaning the windows which is always a pain.
I've caught up on LJ/DW, so will head up to see mam for a while and after James finishes work at 1 we'll probably head off for a walk somewhere.
I went to the dentist on Thursday and it turns out I only needed one filling not two, so that was good. They're going to fit a temporary cap on my next visit in a fortnight, then the permanent one after that, and then no more cement tooth.
We went to the cinema to see Unforgeable, which didn't live up to its name. The reviews said it was the same genre of films like Single White Female and Basic Instinct, which it was, but it's the kind of film I'll forget going to see in a few weeks. Plus, for those who like to keep note, James fell asleep for the beginning portion of it.
I've seen the A03 meme going around, so figured why not? I used to write, right? Actually, I still do, just haven't lately which means my BBB is dead in the water, but I still have hopes for bingo.

Nothing surprising there at all, except Nowhereville flying up the ranks. And I remain thrilled that Blurring, the fic that was recced as someone's guilty pleasure, is so high. Do not worry people who love coma!Pete. You're not alone!

My heyday, man. Obviously years ago. And again, my soft spot for 10 Rules remains, many many years later and that short thrown -out story remains loved it seems.

Date: 2017-04-23 02:57 pm (UTC)Let me direct you to this insta post to show some of what I did. Though I was mean and made James walk for a bit, so now he's collapsed on the sofa.
I was so pleased when he only said one filling. Especially so as it was on the other side of my mouth, and one numb side was enough to deal with!

Date: 2017-04-24 08:30 am (UTC)I feel you. I haven't been immersed in a fandom for a while, and I'm sure that's part of why I don't write as much. I still enjoy bandom, but not to my previous extent.
That's an interesting point about writing rps v canon characters, and one I agree with. I know I'm much more comfortable writing rpf.
Hopefully we'll both get back to writing at some point.

Date: 2017-04-24 05:08 pm (UTC)I wonder what the statistics are for James falling asleep at a movie :-)
It's kind of amazing the way The Looking After Mikey fic is still gets so many kudos this many years later. But then maybe not, it is a very sweet little story after all and sometimes it's those that really have staying power.

Date: 2017-04-25 06:24 am (UTC)I'd say there's a very high chance of him falling asleep. What amused me this time was he actually enjoyed the part of the movie he saw, so it wasn't boredom this time.
It just shows you that sometimes it's not the stories that you slave over that get the most attention. 10 Rules was literally written in about 30 minutes, and yet here it is, years later still holding attention.
