A quick rl catch-up.
My MiL is doing so much better. Still in hospital but she's on oxygen only when she needs it now instead of 24/7 like before. There's talk of her needing overnight oxygen in her own home, and if that's the case some serious cleaning and tidying up will need to go on. Mam was on oxygen and those tanks/machines and pipes get everywhere and you really need space. Thankfully my SiL's partner has made it his mission to get the heating sorted. So that's a big plus.
Kayleigh has broken up with her live-in partner. She told me when I was up there last. It's all a bit of a mess especially as it wasn't something they both wanted, but Kayleigh had reasons I understand. I'll miss seeing Shauna, though. She was lovely and a good person.
Corey had to have a review at the doctors yesterday, so he called home for a few hours after. He's doing well, and I fed him and sent him home with one of the huge Easter eggs that have been lurking on top of the fridge for months, a big tub of cous cous, bars of chocolate, shampoo and various other things. He's a grown adult and more than capable of looking after himself, but I doubt I'll ever stop giving him stuff. And ha, I just realised I referred to both here and Newcastle as his home. Guess they're interchangeable to me now.
He also brought me a different keyboard, but oh man, I just couldn't get on with it. It was one of his old gamer keyboards and had all these extra buttons and somehow I couldn't touch type on it at all. I don't know if it was the extra column of buttons on the left that was throwing me off, but even a small comment took me ages as I had to keep backspacing. I'm sure I would have got there eventually, but this morning I changed it back to the old one and it feels so much better.
Once Corey had gone I went for my bath. Had just settled down when someone started banging on the door, then rattling the letterbox. James was going to the hospital straight from work, and wasn't due back for a while, and no one else was due but whoever it was just kept knocking. So I got out, pulled on my pjs, and found out it was my neighbour from a few doors up. She's an older lady and her partner has dementia and she was really frantic as her heating had gone off and she wanted to know if James was in to check her boiler. I said no, but would be back in an hour or so and he'd call in then. Then she nearly fell over going up the garden path so I walked her back home, though wish I'd had time to put my slippers on first. Talk about cold feet. She was fine, btw. James did call in on his way back and the heating got sorted.
Today is cold, wet and grey so I intend some writing, some reading, some snowflaking and later some time under a blanket watching tv. Lazy days ftw.

Date: 2019-01-09 12:14 pm (UTC)That’s a shame, I hope she’s doing ok.
That’s sweet though. Chocolate is always good. Especially if it means getting rid of a one that’s been lingering
Oh yeah, gaming keyboards just look so confusing. I’d probably be the same.
Awww that poor lady. I’m glad he sorted the heating for her.
Yeah it’s the same here, though without the wet part at the moment. I might write a bit more later on too after snowflake and just bundle up and watch stuff too, hee

Date: 2019-01-09 01:54 pm (UTC)She's getting by. Says she's better off living alone for now.
I'm so glad one of the eggs have gone. Next time he's home the other one may be going too.
I honestly don't know why it threw me so much. I mean, the actual letter/number parts where the same as a standard keyboard, but they were surrounded by all these other keys and I kept writing gibberish.
I need to do my snowflake post then get to reading etc. I'm enjoying my lazy day but I'm not being very productive.

Date: 2019-01-09 02:13 pm (UTC)Well as long as she’s happy that’s good.
if I lived closer I’d take it off your hands in a heartbeat 😁
That is strange!
Awesome, we’ll lazy days are the best. Mine is going to be lazy from now on

Date: 2019-01-09 01:42 pm (UTC)Sorry to hear about your sister and her gf. It's how it goes sometimes.
I wish it was a lazy day for me! I'm so envious!

Date: 2019-01-09 01:51 pm (UTC)It is. Kayleigh says she's happy being alone atm and it probably is a good time to just concentrate on herself.
I wish it was too. Stupid your work! Sadly I haven't been productive at all and have been firstly watching a load of Cobras videos, and I can still do the guilty pleasures hand movements, go figure, and was then looking through old MCR pictures which led to looking at Pete pictures so I've gone from a gsf place to Mikey/Pete. As you do.

Date: 2019-01-09 03:56 pm (UTC)awwww, you getting out of your lovely bath to barefoot-walk the old lady back home is the most adorable image.

Date: 2019-01-09 05:46 pm (UTC)I was sure my neighbour would tumble down the path if I nipped back in to get some slippers. So, barefoot it was.

Date: 2019-01-09 06:56 pm (UTC)I am totally with you on the strange new keyboard thing - I think it's something to do with altered spacing and where your hands sit in reference to the bottom corners of the thing. Not fun!
You and James are so good for helping the poor lady out, but what a shame that she had to come when you were in your bath <3

Date: 2019-01-10 08:41 am (UTC)James was at his sister's last night and they've hatched a plan to get some of the rubbish and surplus stuff out of my in-law's house. Because of mobility issues they don't use upstairs so have set up the dining room as a bedroom, and it's crammed full of stuff and clothes. My FiL especially being a clothes hoarder, none of which are worn, just thrown on the floor and bed. Which is why my MiL sleeps sitting up on the couch. My heart aches for them, trapped in such a bad situation which will just get worse due to the mobility issues.

That's exactly it. I've used other non-gamer keyboards before and managed okay, but this one defeated me.
Her timing wasn't ideal, that's for sure. A little earlier Corey would have been home, a little later James would have been back. Oh well, she's okay, that's all that matters.

Date: 2019-01-09 07:17 pm (UTC)That sounds like quite a strange keyboard so it's no wonder you'd trouble with it.
You went outside with bare feet in January?!! I get that it was a bit of an emergency but still! I hope you got back into your bath to warm up your poor feet afterwards?
We had cold wet and grey yesterday too. Such boring weather but yes, excellent for staying inside and cuddling with the cat(s) :-)

Date: 2019-01-10 08:34 am (UTC)It's a very weird keyboard. It had all these buttons that I'm sure are useful if you're a serious gamer but pointless for me. And the column at the left-hand side really threw me a lot. My hands just wouldn't fall into the right place because of them.
I did go outside in bare feet in January. I was worried she'd fall over if I'd gone back inside. Thankfully she lives only a few houses up, and I did get straight back into my back.
Such horrible weather these last few days. Just blah with the lack of sun.

Date: 2019-01-12 08:04 am (UTC)Well, I sort of enjoyed my lazy day. But I was so lazy I felt a bit ick and unmotivated at the end of it. However, better than yours ♥

Date: 2019-01-12 08:00 am (UTC)It was good getting rid of stuff, especially as it would be getting used. I still tend to forget there's only 2 of us in the house 90% of the time and buy too much.
I did enjoy my bath afterwards, it was an excellent way to warm up.
