Good things

My MiL got out of hospital today. They found out she'd had double pneumonia and also has sleep apnoea so has been sent home with a machine and mask she needs to wear at night. She's much better in herself, but physically is still really weak and gets breathless easily. It was a hard job getting her into the car, but we got her home eventually and hopefully, she'll start to regain some energy.
We have a new washer. After a tip on here we checked for second-hand parts to fix the problem, but in the end, a new drum was as much as the cost to buy a second-hand washer which comes with a guarantee. It's black and smart looking, and cost a fraction of a new one. Plus, the man delivered and fit it for free and also took away the old one. I've already done one wash and it was lovely not to have to mop up a leak during and after.
We're getting our new car on Wednesday. The adaptations are getting done this weekend and we could have had it on Monday but James is at work the next three days, so Wednesday it is.
I'm off to my aunt's tomorrow with Kayleigh. So no cooking tomorrow as she always cooks for the five thousand and sends us home with leftovers.
Yesterday we went to see The Favourite. I'd read it was a comedy, but it really wasn't. However, I did enjoy it a lot. Plus, one of my favourite cinema guys from Metrocenter was filling it at Silverlink for a couple of weeks, so I got to chat to him. He's ridiculously good looking in a beardy hipster sort of way, half my age and always compliments me saying I'm looking good. And really, I'll take that. We also got free passes to go to another screening of any movie in the future. I assume because the sound was off during the adverts at the beginning, which really doesn't seem a big deal to me, but maybe someone complained. Anyway, as we've got the unlimited cards I'll be giving the passes to Kayleigh tomorrow.
I'll also catch up on Snowflake stuff tomorrow as apart from going to my aunts I have nothing planned all day.

Date: 2019-01-12 07:53 pm (UTC)That’s good! Hope the car turns out to be good too!
Yeah it seems the marketing for the favourite hasn’t done a good job showing what it is. And ohh yay nice guy! Free stuff is always good. (Although when the sound cut out when I saw a film no one gave us anything, boo)
Aww cool!

Date: 2019-01-13 09:58 am (UTC)We're getting the next model up from the car we have now. I have to admit, one reason being I'm in love with the heated seats.
I only went to see The Favourite as a friend was very keen on seeing it. I'm glad that I did so as it's a really good film, just not what I was expecting at all.
That's the second time Odeon has given out free passes. The last one there was an issue with the screen so people were let in late and didn't get to see any adverts or trailers. Which again wasn't that big of an issue. Oh well, Kayleigh gets to benefit from it which is good.

Date: 2019-01-13 09:55 am (UTC)I think wearing the mask at night will make a lot of difference for her. I just wish her mobility was a bit better, but one thing at a time.
Thank you. I'm heading there in an hour or so. No doubt she's already cooking *g*

Date: 2019-01-14 11:19 am (UTC)I love my new ( old ) washer. It works so well, and no leak.
I did, she cooked too much as usual so I brought James a plate of food home, which meant no cooking, too.

Date: 2019-01-13 09:35 pm (UTC)I didn't know what to expect from "The Favourite", but I'd liked the trailers... and actually, I found that during the film I really didn't know what was going to happen next, and it was a rather exciting feeling. Definitely not a comedy, although very funny at times. Well worth seeing.
(My random icon suggestion came up as Wash without violence, which seems appropriate, but I decided to keep clicking.)

Date: 2019-01-14 10:37 am (UTC)The Favourite really captured my attention. Like you I had no idea what was going to happen, and I'm still unsure how to categorise it. But what I do know is, it's not a comedy. Going home I was discussing with James what the end could have meant, and I always think that's a sign of a good film, one that makes you think and doesn't neatly end things.

Date: 2019-01-20 11:38 pm (UTC)The Favorite's marketing confuses me a lot (I've seen the movie) because I ended up feeling like it purposely hid certain aspects that would've moved it up to a "must-see" for me.
Ooh, and yays for getting a free pass as well. :)

I agree. I pretty much went in unsure what I was about to see. I had read it was a comedy, but despite laughing many times I still don't think it was that at all. I enjoyed it a lot, and the twists and turns had me gripped. But it really wasn't what I expected going in.
Free passes are always good. Though, I'm still not sure what for. A loss of sound of the adverts really wasn't a big thing.
