I've been thinking about this today.

It's been a bit of a day, I needed to take my sister's cat to the vets as an emergency appointment -- he's okay btw -- and at one point was carrying him worried about what the vet was going to say. I was trudging through slush, it was raining, cold, and everything was just a bit, meh, you know?

And things have been like that for a while for everyone. Lockdowns, restrictions, government bull the world over, just so much for a long time.

So, my challenge is, think of something that makes you happy and just hang onto that feeling for a while. You can tell me about it, or just keep it to yourself. The point is, just focus on something that makes you smile.

Some from me.

Going to the cinema, sitting in the darkness waiting for the film to begin while clutching my coffee.

Lying in the bath, totally relaxed, bubbles everywhere, the air steamy and Kindle Fire in hand as I read.

Walking at the beach on a cold day. The sound of the waves and seagulls. Salt and sand on my lips.

On a night as I settle down to watch TV. Candles lit, settled in my recliner and blanket over my lap, Milo on one side, Murphy, because he's a weirdo, under the blanket too.

As I said, you don't have to share, but if you want to I'd love to hear. But just, think of those moments and enjoy every moment of remembered happy.

I really love this - and your list is wonderful.

some of mine are running wild on the farm as a kid - the pack of cousins covering 500 acres, roaming and having adventures in good weather, and playing Batman in the barn in the rainy season

spending time with Rica in a beachside cottage with an ocean view - cooking for each other, and listening to music and watching Media Cannibals song vid VCR tapes.

drinking coffee with friends for hours - talking about everything and nothing, and laughing - so much laughter

and looking out at the snow from the safety of a warm room, with cocoa and a kitty to cuddle

and I'm definitely smiling now, thanks

This is a lovely idea!

Walking on the beach on a windy day, for sure

Walking somewhere unfamiliar, with good walking company, talking and noticing things, and the distance passing between us

Getting up after having a massage, warm and easy and nothing hurts and my mind is still and calm

Sitting in my sister's kitchen, after helping put the kids to bed, chatting about the day and taking a pause with a cup of tea before we do anything else

The kitty is fine, he's old and had called off a bench and we thought he'd damaged his hip. But thankfully, just bruising.

I'm glad the cat is ok. I'm sorry the legwork fell to you, though. :(

And that is a very nice challenge. Some from me:

- Seeing the dark silhouettes of the treetops outside my windows against the sky in its deepest blue just before night
- Soap bubbles
- The flower string lights I just got after I realized that taking down my Christmas star lights was making me sad

Glad the kitty cat is okay. And yeah, I know that kind of meh mood exactly.

Great challenge! I answered in my journal, but here are a couple more:

I moved furniture yesterday to bring my (totally too large for the space, but oh so comfy) armchair out to in front of the TV. It had been in the corner behind my desk and ottoman and was impossible to get to really. But I watched an hour of TV from it yesterday and it was lovely.

The sweet smell of a vanilla candle.

Honestly, it feels like I've spent half my life at the vets lately.

I do love the idea of you curling up and being utterly comfortable watching TV.

The smell of a roast in the crock pot.

The scent of a good candle or lotion.

Cuddles from my cat.

The sound of running water (like a stream, not in the tub, lol).

Apple blossoms.

As you know, I'm a read-in-the-bath bliss person too - and walking on the beach on a cold (and possibly wild) day as well <3 <3

I also love visiting a fairly ruined castle and exploring it and being brave on the stairs :D

Oh, I do like your addition of visiting a failing ruined castle. They really do have a special feel to them. I haven't been to an actual castle for a long time but there is a ruined abbey close and I totally get being brave on the stairs.

I'm glad to hear the cat's doing well.

This is the perfect challenge for this year! Some things that makes me happy are:

Knitting with a purring Lancecat in my lap.

Watching Lancecat snooze, particularly if he's snoring a little.

Going for a walk on a sunny day.

Managing to successfully identify an unknown plant/flower.

Looking at pretty pictures.

Reading a good story.

Mr Tumnus is fine now. Just, give everyone a shock falling off the bench and hurting his hip. You always think cats land fine, but sometimes they just don't, especially when they're old.
